Kevin Weisman,who plays Dreg, is one of those consistently good often scene-stealing actors who never gets the lead. My partner made me watch the first couple of seasons of Marvel’s Runaways (or Marvel’s Couch Potatoes, as I called it), and Weisman and James Marsters were the only ones who made it tolerable, consistently bringing things to their characters beyond what was in the scripts.

I got that impression in your last reaction that you had been through this and was a bit concerned for you with this brain tumor storyline. Sending you all the hugs and love. And if i had any energy to send to your drained self I’d send that too. xx You really picked up on the theme well in this ep, about not being able to fight things you don’t understand. Most peeps get that straight away with Buffy & Joyce’s illness of course, but don’t always link it with the lack of knowledge around the Glory situation on their first watch. I really like that Riley didn’t take Dawn back to school as Buffy asked, but out for ice cream. I’m sure she couldn’t cope with school that day. It’s a really nice Riley moment. Then all his insecurities raise their head again and it turns all angsty, yeah very ‘ow’ moment. “I’ve missed these weird monster costumes.” - that the Whovian in you! [Later - oh ok, Power Rangers, that’s interesting, have never watched.] This is the fourth snake demon we’ve had. First the one the frat boys worshipped in Reptile Boy, then the one that the mayor was trying to sacrifice the babies to in Band Candy, then - The Mayor! , of course :) Now this one, no. 4. :D : Joss has a thing for snakes?? :D I really enjoy Glory and her minion in this ep - very entertaining :) Anya is a delight yes! And a major asset to the team with her 1000+ years of knowledge. I really enjoy all the Scooby scenes in the Magic Box, even if they don’t get a lot of dialogue & time this episode. And yes, it is very obvious that Riley is the outsider and not really part of the team. I find that scene with Dawn by the carousel really sweet too. But then later in the episode, for me, he really messes up. Going spending his time drinking in a demon bar and getting himself bitten by a vamp ( why? to feel what Buffy has?) - while Buffy is in the hospital with her mum. He feels on the outside with Buffy too as well as the Scoobies, as her attention and energy is all taken with supporting her mum and Dawn and staying strong for them. But if he wants to be there to support Buffy, what the feck is he doing drinking in the demon bar and doing messed up shit?! Humph! Annoys the hell outta me. LOL - all these times watching it and Btvs never fades! It stills gets all these reactions and emotions out of me. It really is a magical show, for SO many of us, we can watch it over and over and over without it diminishing. :) Thanks so much for that great reaction Liam!

2019-11-11 22:52:39 +0000 UTCWhile Spike's action ARE a bit creepy, I tend to side on the thing of he is not just a man, but a vampire, a predator. Maybe he really was just honing himself to her scent lol. I love that the night before, Spike goes after her with a shot gun, see's Buffy crying, and sits with her. This this episode he reveals that not only did Buffy let him sit there, as she cried, but she opened up and told him everything that was happening... Meanwhile this episode, Buffy doesn't call Riley, barely tells him anything and can't allow herself to cry on his shoulder because she has to be strong... Then you've got Spike telling Riley 'You're not dark enough... she like's her men --- occasionally bumpy in the forehead region...' and when he asks Riley 'why hasn't she taken me off the guestlist?' we see Riley look a little shaken. Don't forget, Buffy did say if she wanted super powers she would be dating Spike! THEN, later Riley lets Sandy the vampire bite him. Oh Riley, what are you doing, man... I just love how all these moving pieces are playing through right now. Poor Buffy, Dawn and Joyce :'( Amazing reaction as always and, as always, can't wait to see the next one!

During and definitely after. When I first came across your reactions on YouTube (a recommended random episode) a few years ago, it got to the analysis, and I saw there was ten minutes and I laughed and thought, “how nerdy do you have to be to sit through ten minutes of reactor analysis?” (Even considering I watched PTN) I didn’t watch but another reaction here and there for the longest time until last year I sat down and actually listened to one of your analysis.. And, alas, I watch your reactions religiously, and can easily say I never skip your commentary after an episode. Anywho, this is probably the longest comment I’ve ever left on a reactor’s page. To wrap up: you’re thoughtful, your mind goes places most viewers don’t go until at least another watch, your very much relatable, and THANK YOU. In regards to this episode- These scenes hit me hard even before I had something for it to hit me home with, so I totally get it. It’s heartbreaking. 💕

Perhaps why Buffy seems to keep shutting him out of her life at this point. He does see the scars on Buffy's neck every day so that might have something to do with his actions with Sandy in this episode. Love the names Dreg goes through before the Beast insists on 'Glory'. “Most beauteous and supremely magnificent one...most tingly and wonderful...shiny special one...your elaborate marvelousness...Your creamy coolness'' etc.
