He did that because he thought if she took someone else's identity, the authorities, the Scoobies and anyone else who might be looking to go after her would never find her.. With how close the two of them were, he may have known about the Watcher's Council too, and thought they would also be looking for her. If he intended for her to end up stealing Buffy's face, he may have also thought it was a sweet revenge against the one person who kept causing problems for both of them that she ends up in the body of someone who hates her.

2020-05-12 14:30:48 +0000 UTCThis episode is great with some little plot conveniences about the Mayor. It really is fortunate that he decides to leave a video message for Faith and a switching body device. Why exactly? But it doesn’t matter because the next episode is pure awesomeness. Loved your reaction!

2019-08-03 06:37:56 +0000 UTCExcellent reaction. There is so much to love about this episode: The dream sequences that begin similar to the one in Graduation Day but then quickly turn into a horror film, and I enjoy Faith's Shawshank shot of rebirth. Faith wandering down Main Street, disoriented and alone, like Vamp Willow in Doppelgängland. Faith’s scene with Joyce reveals how hurt she feels about Buffy: “You think you matter, you think you're a part of something and you get dumped. It's like the whole world is moving and you're stuck. It's like those animals in the tar pits. It's like you just keep sinking a little deeper everyday and no-one even sees. Don't tell me you don't see it Joyce. You've served you purpose, squirted out the kids, raised her up, and now you might as well be dead. Nobody cares, nobody remembers, especially not Buffy fabulous superhero. Sooner or later you're going to have to face it. She was over us a long time ago Joyce. Too busy climbing onto her new boytoy to give a single thought to the people that matter.” The brutal fight that’s not like their usual choreographed fights. This one reminds me of the famous one in Alias (which was a few years later), but I love the haphazard environmental style of fighting in which you incorporate whatever item you can get your hands on, like a vase or a drawer or a glass door. Then the shocking end, and it clicks into place. I’ve always wondered if Faith came up with this plan (going to the one person who would call the police because the scoobies know not to involve the police) because Faith is not known to be a strategist. Everything Riley/ The Initiative / Adam-related — I don’t care about, but it doesn’t take much away from the episode. I also dislike the slut-shaming, but they’ve always treated Faith like that.

2019-08-02 21:42:29 +0000 UTCI've noticed how perceptive Liam is too.. I'm also seeing the characters differently because of some things Liam notices about them.. I don't think Faith was treated badly by the group at all, it takes time to build bonds and she isn't a patient person. She took the easy (bad) way 😔
2019-08-02 12:13:10 +0000 UTCI could not be more excited to watch this reaction.

2019-08-02 08:35:37 +0000 UTCThis is a great two parter of the season, and I can't wait for the second act. I've so been looking forward to this reaction. :D

2019-08-02 03:52:15 +0000 UTCGotta say kudos to Eliza Dushku (◡‿◡✿) I've been watching tons of Dollhouse lately and yet I didn't once think about Echo. Faith is such a realized character.

2019-08-02 02:19:12 +0000 UTCI love seeing Faith again in this episode. Liam is like "I want all the characters to have a redemption arc!" - I feel you. oops - should I being saying 'Mood!' nowadays? :D Interesting comparison of Faith vs Riley being welcomed into the Scoobies. But although Riley is in the dubious ( intially)/evil ( well Maggie Walsh at least) Initiative - he is Buffy's boyfriend. Buffy's boyfriends are major characters, so always included in the Scoobies so far - well, except for Scott Hope, but he was very brief and they chose not to write him finding out about vampires/demons or Buffy being the slayer. When Willow or Xander have a partner, they also have become part of the Scoobies so far, Oz of course, Cordelia became much more part of the Scoobies when with Xander, and now Anya is hanging out with them. It is interesting that girlfriends and boyfriends become part of the team, but a slayer was left out of the group a lot more. Also, on Spike - no , he did not meet Faith in his one season 3 episode. It was epsiode 8 - 5 episodes after Faith shows up in Sunndydale, but it is one of those eps that Faith is not in at all. An example of her being totally left out of the action and what is going on for everyone in that ep. Maybe they thought Spike & Faith in the same ep is just too much awesomeness to handle !! Especially with all the great Willow/Spike interaction in that ep.

2019-08-02 02:14:22 +0000 UTCGreat reaction. I was waiting impatiently for this one and the next one, its second half. You really are an exceptionally engaged and perceptive viewer, catching things in a first viewing that I dint catch til rewatch 2 or 3.

2019-08-02 01:12:54 +0000 UTC(Timestamp 5:33, Willow asks about Riley) Liam - She cares about everyone! (Timestamp 5:57, Xander gets shocked by blaster, no one pays attention) Liam - *snortlaugh*. 🤣🤣

2019-08-02 00:32:42 +0000 UTCFantastic reaction Liam! What a cliffy eh. Just pausing your analysis to say - Nope! Wasn't me who sent you the book. I remember the box opening, and the book sounded great. Hopefully the person who sent it will say straight away on youtube, but if not I'll check out that old box opening vid. Right - on with the rest of your ep analysis.

2019-08-02 00:13:31 +0000 UTCI think Faith's fake-watcher encouraged along some insecurities in Faith about the gang not liking her.

2019-08-01 23:07:18 +0000 UTCIt's commonly said that Faith wasn't treated well by Buffy or the gang in Season 3 but I don't recall any major conflict through much of that season. Faith trying to fit into an established group was complicated and created some jealousies, but the two of them generally got along and worked well together up until Faith killed the Deputy Mayor and blamed it on Buffy. Was it because Faith was living in the motel?
