PC broke down, new animation info
Added 2023-04-21 10:34:34 +0000 UTCI was installing a new graphics card on Monday and needed to reset bios settings. Apparently, that was too much for the motherboard. They don’t sell motherboards compatible with my 8700k anymore, so I’m upgrading to newer cpu and ram as well. 💸💸💸 Hopefully this will help with rendering performance too. The parts have been ordered and I’m getting my pc back on 2nd of May (less than 2 weeks).
It’s actually kind of convenient that it happened to break down just now, since I have army refresher training excercise this weekend, and my partner is having her vacation next week. Though I wasn’t prepared to shell out another 1000 € right after upgrading the gpu.
The next animation is coming along nicely. It was originally meant to be a little less ambitious, but – surprise surprise – now it’s going to be my biggest animation so far. It will be a bit different than the previous longer animations, since it will not focus on any specific character, but instead have a ton of popular background ponies and some popular OCs of the community.
I have some small previews rendered, and I’ll post them once I get my pc running again. No clear release date yet, it’s coming when it’s finished™. I’ll probably make a preview for everybody and some extra previews for the 10 $ tier. Many people have pledged more than the required 5 $, and I'd like to give them something extra to show my gratitude.

2023-04-21 11:22:44 +0000 UTCSounds like you may have popped your power supply, it's difficult to blowup your motherboard unless you really overclock your CPU, but yeah a 13700k will be a space ship compared to your old 8700k, coupled with your new GPU sounds like a rocket of a new pc

2023-04-21 11:17:08 +0000 UTCthats unfortunate about your pc, but to be expected if insatlling a modern gpu into a older motherboard, i build pc's and know all to well this issue, but if steps done right it would have worked, just need to flash bios so the new card would work right, what new cpu do you have ordered?
