I love this episode so much! So glad Connor got to come back and be mostly well-adjusted. And WESLEYY. Yeah the thing with taking peoples’ memories away from them is they don’t learn from their mistakes if they can’t remember making them lol. Always trying to do the right thing (the rash, not fully thought out right thing) without all of the available information and not asking enough questions of enough people, oh Wes I love your dumb ass

Gunn's decision to put the necklace back on is less-surprising if we remember "Double or Nothing" in season three. The episode where we learned he'd sold his soul for a truck when he was a teenager. When they came to collect (And they threatened Fred if he didn't pay up), he walked into the casino and was going to let his soul get sucked. Even the soulsucker was impressed and said very few people actually showed up when the time came. He fell down this season, but when he signs up for punishment, he TAKES it. I meant to put this note in the last episode, but I forgot. Going into the final stretch, here is what we KNOW about the "Senior Partners" (All TV-canon only): The name of the firm, "Wolfram & Hart", seems to descend from "Wolf, Ram, and Hart" ('Hart' being another term for a male deer). The Wolf, Ram, and Hart are probably demons, but we don't know that for sure. Illyria remembers them from when she was alive, so they've been around for millions of years, but she remembers them as being relatively weak. "Barely" above vampires, she said. Whether that means they're some sort of half-demon, half-human hybrid, or it's just a comment on their strength back then, is unknown. We don't know if Wolf, Ram, and Hart refers to three individual beings that work together (A wolf, a ram, and a hart), or if it's perhaps the name of some sort of ORGANIZATION. The religious order that ruled Pylea had some sort of allegiance to the Wolf, Ram, and Hart, and that order wanted the Groosalugg to have sex with Cordelia so that he would get her visions and they would have a direct line of contact to the Powers that Bed. This, and multiples references to Wolfram & Hart having inter-dimensional branches, says that the Wolf, Ram, and Hart don't live on our plane of existence. We do know the name of one Senior Partner, Mr. Suvarta, because Lilah Morgan contacted him when she overthrew Linwood Murrow (The boss at W&H in seasons three and four). The fact that he's apparently a specific individual indicates that Wolf, Ram, and Hart is more of an organization name rather than three supernatural beings. But it is also possible that the three beings have human personas that they use to interact with our plane of existence. I believe that this is everything that we KNOW so far. There's a lot of theories, but as to whether those theories are correct or not....well, you'll have to watch and see.

I believe that this episode was foreshadowed by 5x13 Why We Fight. Lawson (Angel repeatedly addresses him as "son") returns. Angel has changed him from what he once was for a greater and he hopes better purpose. That's why, at the time I was first watching this season, I dreaded Connor's return. Lawson demands a mission, a purpose, and when Angel has nothing in response the only solution is death. Fortunately, when Connor returns, Angel does have a mission for him, and it gives him a purpose. And understanding: "I learned that from my father."

two big things: one, the most unforgivable crime connor makes in the entire show? saying "it's going to be fine, don't worry" when he knows he's in the first act of a genre TV show. second, if you're gonna miss angel, now's the *perfect* time to get on the Interview With The Vampire TV show - it goes hard.

(14:12): Hells to the yeah, 100%--- you should check out some good ol' Anne Rice. "Interview with the Vampire" still kills it (all these years later)...

Chris Carman

so i think breaking Orlan's Window only brought memories back for Illyria, Wes, and Connor. Vail said a person had to be near the window for it to bring back altered memories.

Looking forward to the final four reaction episodes of Angel Sahjhan was the time travelling demon who transported Holtz into the 21st century to try and stop Conner being born, to prevent the prophesized event that took place in this episode; The son of the vampire with a soul will kill Sahjhan. (A real "prophecies are tricky things" moment)

James Smith

I agree that's probably the reference, but that was Holtz, not Sahjhan - Sahjhan was still incorporeal when that happened

"I don't like people touching my neck" Deep cut callback to when Sajahn was holding baby Connor over the entrance to Quor'toth. Sajahn has his hands around Connor's neck threatening to snap it if the others didn't do what he wanted.
