This is a great episode for many reasons imo, but I want to give a special shoutout to the editing. In particular, there are two cuts that do an excellent job at showing how much influence Cordelia has over Connor. The first is a simple audio match cut between Cordelia telling Connor what to say and Connor saying it. It makes it seem like Cordelia is talking for Connor. The other is an L-cut to Connor walking through hotel to try to kill Angelus with the audio of Connor still asking questions about it. Again, it makes it seem like Connor isn’t in control because we already know that Cordelia will convince him in the end.

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda ship Willow and Fred 🤭

Yes. Obviously. What's your point? That she should have got it earlier? She didn't. She still got it. Within the story. You're just being an asshole.

Kevin Charley

Is it "Frillow" or "Wred"? Either way, yespls!

I was finally able to sit and watch with you, and WHEW this was a blast. Other comments already said it, but it's great to see you understand that Connor is being manipulated. This is one of the areas that the fandom often doesn't seems to understand and PILES on the character without appreciating that he's being lied to by a person he trusts and loves. That obviously doesn't make his actions "good", but it's a whole lot more understandable than if he was acting of his own volition. Angel and Faith's conversation touches lightly on a philosophical point that Doyle brought up way back in episode one: It's not a numbers game. There's no amount of people you can save to equal the ones you hurt. And you try to work based on that idea, you'll eventually stop caring at all. So you need to understand what you're trying to accomplish, and why, and how. And you need to do it for the right reasons.

So much great stuff in this episode, lots of Angel flashbacks, the Angel vs Angelus fight, and Willow showing up to help. Orpheus is a name of a figure in Greek mythology, he descended into the underworld to save his wife. Much like how Faith descended into Angelus’ “hell” to save Angel. Eliza Dushku’s brother Nate portrayed the robber in the 1970s segment of the flashbacks.

Perfect way to end the Angelus/Faith things. Character moments, storyline advancement, and great writing. My number 4 of all Angel episodes

Did you miss Faith and Angels's conversation when she told him she was going to Sunnydale because that's where she's needed?

One of the best episodes of the season. Faith is still here (it was touch and go for a while), Willow shows up, and we've got Angel's soul back. Angel and Faith were talking about her going to Sunnydale out on the balcony, but there's so much to take in in this episode that it may not have registered. Faith is alive and well and headed to Sunnydale. So, out of the frying pan, but into the fire. Should be a good time.

i think this is a good lesson in "soulness" for vampires, it shows that even if you have a soul doesn't mean you're completely separate from the demon inside, and therefor you can still do evil things and for angel it's a constant temptation. That's one of the reasons I love Angel as a character he's constantly trying to redeem himself because there's still a demon inside him trying to influence his actions.

I never put it together before but this was Faith's slayer "I want to die" in the line of duty and rest moment that Spike was telling Buffy about in Fool For Love.

Alyson and Alexis got married about six months after this episode first aired in 2003. Speaking of marriage, the two of them appeared together as a bickering couple in the 2011 comedy "Love, Wedding, Marriage". Here's a fun clip of them from the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCrg8pFLF_Q

Something I’m happy you noticed is how Connor is being manipulated. A lot of the hate for him and decisions he makes totally skim over the fact that he essentially has a childs/teenagers mind that’s only ever known “love” via manipulation with Holtz, Justine, and even Angel to an extent. Add onto that the way he didn’t really know Cordelia as we or the gang knew her so none of her tactics or attitudes would seem out of place to him. Connor thinks this possessed Cordelia IS Cordelia.

Clicked on this so fast! Love the scene where Angel rescued the puppy! I do believe this episode was right after Alexis and Alyson got married in real life.

I can't watch the episode until I get home from work later, but this is one of those ones that I was WAITING for.
