Random? She tried gaslighting Anya into not marrying Xander and made Dawn feel responsible for unknowingly casting a vengeance wish on all her friends. Still love her tho, mainly because of the actress who plays her.

disliking Halfrek is so random, I don't get it πŸ˜…

when they said in the last episode "wedding's in one week" I thought you'd understand it meant the wedding was next week in the show 😬

I would absolutely marry Clem over Xander, Clem is freakin' adorable. I do love how this season is the season of, "Yeah we've made jokes about Xander's home life, and Willow's spells going wrong, and all that, but what about if we're not joking now".

I really would have loved to see best man Willow "all Marlene Dietrich-y in a dashing tuxedo." Six seasons of carefully tossed-off jokes about Xander's miserable home life all crash down in this episode.

She was just putting together the info from Fake Future Xander's vision. Notice the distinctive floppy ears on the daughter? That must mean that Fake Future Anya has an affair with Clem! 😲😁

Regarding Willow and Tara's relationship, I love what Willow said last episode (Which was in the "Previously on..." here): It's too soon for Willow to call Tara and try to reconnect, but if Willow DID call her then Tara wouldn't hang up on her. That's the perfect encapsulation of where they are right now. I come down a lot harder against Xander than the episode itself does. Not for backing out of the wedding, but for HOW he did it. The impulse-run after seeing the vision was a panic reaction, which isn't good but I can understand it. But to then come back, lay out his fears, and STILL walk away without talking to any of his friends or family and leaving Anya to handle the fallout on her own is just low. It's a "real" development given all we've seen of his character, but that doesn't make it better.

"You know what? Clem IS available..." Lmaoo. I was so blindsided by that comment after all the chaos. Dead. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

[ANYA] I’ve read this tale There's wedding then betrayal I know there'll come the day I'll want to run and hide [BOTH] I lied I said it's easy I’ve tried But there's these fears I can't quell [XANDER] Am I crazy? [ANYA] Am I dreamin'? [XANDER] Am I marrying a demon? [BOTH] We could really raise the beam In makin' marriage a hell So, thank God I'll never tell I swear that I’ll never tell

PS: I think that Xander's decision in light of all the dysfunction growing up referred to in many past episodes was a (painful) "man-up" moment considering the unignorable front and center problems with his family dynamic.

I can't help to think that Xander is enduring significant, low-grade generational trauma and that led to this heartbreak. It makes me wonder about the usefulness of that character doing therapy and/or cutting all ties with his family. Personally, I think I've benefited from a brief period of such visits in dealing with something I didn't fully realize was screwing me up in my own life. Such is today's random thought. I'm looking forward to the upcoming aftermath from this episode. Cheers.

It was a little heartbreaking to see you think that the future shown was real. I really can't remember what I thought back when I first watched this episode.

What I find unforgivable is that Xander just ran away and left Anya to face that shipwreck alone. He behaved like a coward abandoning her humiliated like that. If you cant get married then go there and explain yourself to everybody, own it. I think it's the least you can do for the woman you supposedly love.

Xander has a long history of acting immaturely, but I agree with Willow and you that I can't hate him for his decision. Obviously it would have been better if he realized earlier that what he was feeling was more than just cold feet and something he actually had to work through (I believe he only just realized this episode because last episode he was the one comforting Anya about the wedding), but the mature decision is to not go into a marriage without feeling ready imo. I also like that the almost invisible storyline of Xander not wanting to be like his parents that has been going on for a while is starting to really pay off. Fun fact: We actually learned all the way back in the season 2 episode 'The Dark Age' that Xander's uncle Rory was a taxidermist. He was also the guy that Xander borrowed a car from in 'The Zeppo' because he had too many DUIs.

I like the implication that Clem was Xander's guest, not Anya's. I like to think of them hanging out.

Original USA tv shows broadcast at 29.97 frames per second (fps). Cassie records her stream at 29.97 like a good American should. British/Euro use 23.98 fps. That is probably why yours plays "faster" . Every 4 frames of yours is 5 frames of hers. What digital players do is either drop every 5th frame if they are playing 29.97 video at 23.98 or duplicate the last frame if they are playing 23.98 video at 29.97, to try to compensate. This matches fairly close, and is not visually perceptible, but there is a 'drift' over time, even with the frame compensation. About 18 seconds per hour. about 0.3 seconds per minute. So every 4 minutes, you are going to get about 1.2 seconds ahead of Cassie's stream. However, computer player programs tend to play the video at the frame rate they are given in the file. What I do is : if I notice a significant scene cut, I hit the pause key until the scene changes in Cassie's stream in the little rectangle window, then go on. This is close enough for me. I don't want to re-render any files to change the frame rates to match. I also don't want to get a new set of episodes that are specifically 29.97 (ntsc-us) format, when I have them already in HD at 23.98.

It's strange, but my copy of the series is somehow in a hurry and constantly trying to run ahead of your copy. I checked it several times - the speed is normal, not increased. I don't know why. Also an interesting point. The conversation between Buffy and Spike in this episode was written by Whedon himself.

"Stop making jokes and being cute... That's how I fall back in!" Same, sis, same.
