I like all the episodes, there are some that are less interesting to me but I still like em.

Morgan Williams

Spike has no soul everybody, lucky he's as cool as he is.... remember Angelus? He's not at all, it wouldn't matter if you stuffed a chip in his brain.

Morgan Williams

she did.

madfem

Michelle Trachtenbergs tragic early death.... did you see that?

A lot of fans don't like this episode -- don't like it a lot. They skip it on rewatch. This is because it is kind of gross, and because of the plot. It is basically a Scooby Doo episode with a mystery villain, a surprise reveal, a lesson about communicating how you feel honestly, a final showdown at the factory. It actually is well written for the most part, and brought out a bunch of character stuff. I like how Buffy got it wrong, and went all Soylent Green. If you know, you know. I wonder if young people watching in 2025 think Spike was right or wrong in the way he talked to Buffy. Was it telling it like it is, or just head games. And is she listening or just emotionally checked out when it comes to Spike.

Not much to say about this episode except that there is a lot of potential for Amy to be... trouble.

Teenager me saw this episode and decided the monster looked like a penis on the woman's head. Have never been able to unsee that.

Oh… I’ve only seen TNG and the original films and series, so I always assumed the Vulcan woman was Saavik lol. Thanks for the clearing that up!

Lime Pie

Poster of the Vulcan lady on the Enterprise, that would be Subcommander T'Pol, portrayed by Jolene Blalock. "I mean, nerds"

James Smith

Oh, and with Halfrek, she's CLEARLY trying to stir the pot with Anya and Xander, but as you noted she's not exactly wrong with all the points she raised. As a vengeance demon she obviously views it all in a negative light. Does that mean her perspective is wrong? Or does it mean she can be blunt and point out the things that other people want to say, but don't because of societal expectations? Kali Rocha, the actress who plays Halfrek, previously appeared in the episode "Fool For Love". She played Cecily, the woman that William (Spike) was writing poetry for, and who shot him down by saying that he is 'beneath' her. Afterwards is when he ran into Drusilla and got turned into a vampire.

I likewise hate Amy for what she did here, but I'm not surprised given the characterization they've given her since she came back. It's straight out of the addict's handbook. The one thing an addict hates more than anything is to see somebody else get clean. Because if the other person has "a problem" and they do the same stuff, then that means they also have a problem. And if the other person can get better, then it means that they can also get better. So there's no excuse for them to continue doing what they already do, and they don't want to face that. Just like "don't be such a buzzkill" or "come on, you can have ONE drink". Anything to keep from facing their own issues.

Still a better experience than she had working for Burger King https://youtu.be/-Ss7_5PSnyA

D - Buffy's never going to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or anything big. X - Buffy's the Slayer... D - But that means she's going to have crap jobs her whole life. Minimum wage stuff. I could still grow up to be anything. But for her, this is it. One of the sadder scenes of the season. It reminds us how very much Buffy has given up being the Slayer.

Marsters said that the standard shift was 12 hours, but the producers had a lot of money, so days when they worked 20 hours a day were not uncommon.

ThePowerDrome

I agree except for the part about no feelings being involved. There are certainly feelings on Spike's end. It's hard to be sure from Buffy's end at this point. She says she doesn't love him, but she also said she's doing it to feel something (in OMWF). I don't think she even knows what exactly she's feeling.

Maia Brodsky

Buffy talking about the double-shift being two eight-hour stints reminded me of SMG talking about having to work 16-hour days on set sometimes. Don't know if the writing was an intentional nod to that or not though.

This is, IMO, the worst episode of the series. Which means it can only get better from here. :)

He is not her boyfriend. Buffy has said this many times. And technically speaking, he's not. He's a lover. It's not associated with feelings. They're sex buddies, you could say.

ThePowerDrome

YES this has made my day
