There hasn't been a Buffy episode like this before. The Gang went on the run, and couldn't run far enough. Everything about the show is broken -- fear is winning, Buffy can't save anyone, nobody has a plan. The evil comes, takes and destroys, and leaves everyone with nothing.
Not since Angel turned and killed Jenny Calendar has the show crossed the line like that. Maybe when Faith turned homicidal as well, but then Buffy killed people here, in self defense, true, but there's no coming back from there.
This is not just the gang against the big bad, it is all their lives completely changed permanently, nothing will be the same after today.

Spike couldn't fight the knights because they're human (he has a chip remember 😀), not because of the sun that was peeking through

The big action sequence with the Knights of Byzantium chasing the RV across the desert always makes me think of the second Mad Max movie, The Road Warrior (1981). But I have just discovered (thank you, IMDB) that it was actually inspired by a similar scene in the classic 1939 western Stagecoach.

Alley box, Sofie and Darcie do that too. They have all finished the show, if you want to take a look.

This episode feels like one giant marathon because it NEVER LETS UP. There's no downtime or period where the characters get to say "I'm glad that's over". Since they can never relax, neither can we, and the tension just grows and grows and grows. It really hypes up the tension running towards the season finale.
I said this earlier in the season when you first began to theorize about Ben, but it's always important to look at what a person DOES. People can say good or bad things, they can MEAN good or bad things, but at the end of the day if you want to judge somebody, look at their actions. The best intentions in the world don't matter if all you do is hurt the people around you, and all of the selfish motivations and greed won't undo the help you provide others just because that's what makes you feel good.
I put this info on your last "Angel" reaction, but I'll say it here again: The 'Previously On' for the season finale was intended to be viewed as part of the episode. It's a recap, but not JUST a recap. Most home video copies don't include it, but I think it should be watched anyway. If yours doesn't have it, here is a link to it on YouTube. It's a direct link, it will not show any Comments or descriptions or other spoiler info:

Great reaction to a fun episode!
Really like Spike's interaction with Willow and Tara in the RV, even though they didn't say it; Spike was probably thinking of Drusilla, a romantic partner whose mental condition led to strange utterances and behaviors.
Also, the spinning weapon used by one of the knights is called a flail.

I have watched sooooooo many Buffy reactions (because I'm a maniac that way) but I have to say without a doubt your breakdowns and analysis before and after each episode are my absolute fave! I love that you don't just watch the episode and go "alright that was great, i liked this part, see you for the next one!" but that you fully dive in and have a discussion about it lol. Not to say there's anything wrong with those that don't but it just makes it a lot more fun. Anyways this was random! Can't wait for the final two eps this season!
