I'm glad you enjoyed this episode. Personally, I always enjoy rewatching it. Angel's unending irritation with the Host is so funny to me. I think David Boreanaz plays 'annoyed and exasperated' really well. I love the old fashioned murder mystery dectective vibe from Wesley. Plus, the gangs little party afterwards! I always think the demons in this episode look pretty cool too.

Rebecca

The familiar-looking bartender was played by Mike Hagerty. He played 100+ roles in movies and TV going back to the 1980's, but I know him best from his last role (he died in 2022) as the heroine's father on the Showtime series Somebody Somewhere. Scrolling through his IMDB credits, I expect most people might recognize him for a recurring role on Friends, where he played the building superintendent.

the camera clearly wasn’t a fan of this one lol - but i now know how to check for this specific glitch before recording, so it hopefully shouldn’t happen again :)

Cassie

I’d say you have a purplish aura? I don’t know why. Hope the camera behaves for the next Buffy! And kinda happy that if the camera did have to misbehave, it was for an episode that’s… not bad but not super memorable

I actually liked this episode a lot more than I did when I first watched it. Mainly cause of the Host. He's just so consistently fun to watch.

Well this is a pleasant surprise! I was about to put on a movie and "turn in", but we're here instead. My episode copies do have "previously on..." recaps for each episode in season two, and I wondered if you were deliberately skipping them for your videos. Curious that they're just not included on yours. I like Cordelia's hair at the end of the episode (During the mystery exposition and party). It's not "my" style, but I think it works. This episode is regarded as one of the weaker ones for the whole series, if not THE weakest. Despite that, I like it for the shakeup of having Angel doing a team-up with the Host, and also for the idea that the "villain" of the episode actually has no idea what's going on. It's still creepy that he's planning to freeze himself and his girlfriend forever (really creepy), but it's a much more mundane creepiness than "Destroy the world!" Maybe he would have been happier studying carpet mold...

As an Angel episode it is not as epic as some, but I found the acting to be very good, and giving the Host a bigger screentime was sweet. The exposition in the car was good stuff. Wesley doing his "British sleuth" act was choice. Alexis Denisof is so talented, and not a bit British in real life. BTW he was in the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Legacies. (Legacies has a lot of roots in Buffy and Angel, (and Harry Potter, of course it is about a magical high school ...), and would be an awesome show for Cass to react to. ) Also I notice the special effects were fairly good in this one, and they brought back the jump cuts from early season 1 and it felt good.

As to why the guy would work on a time stopping machine. I get the sense that Gene is the type of guy who just wants to prove that it could be done. But the way they describe time-stopping as working would be great for food transportation, remove the passage of time and food would be just as fresh as the day it was picked/prepared and would never rot, become stale or go bad in anyway if it was in your time-stopping pantry.

James Smith

I always enjoy the scene with the three of them around the kitchen table as well.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I love Angel and the Host's dynamic in this one. The scene with them in the car on the way to Gene's is so good and really goes a long way to the whole Dark Angel plot.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

the worst ep of the whole series 😰
