An update on the housing situation...we may possibly be able to move into another apartment in our building! But right now it seems have a hole in the wall, so they need to fix that first π If we do end up there, the background might only look a tiny bit different! I'll keep you updated ππ

I'm with you on PE! No team sports! The amount of times I got screamed at during some game of rounders. It's like we aren't at the Olympics. Calm the fuck down! Obviously, I did not say that but I think it now. π Swimming was not a fun experience for me. I couldn't swim at all and at the first place we went for lessons with school, the coach was horrible. She splashed my face with water and was just not nice. We moved to a different pool (not because she was awful, just because a pool opened in the town our school was in) and the coaches were nicer but they divided us up into dolphins, the kids who could swim, and seals, the kids who couldn't. I was one of a very small number of seals and my two friends were dolphins which at 7 felt like such a big deal. π¦ I will always want pets in my life I think but I have points where I didn't and it is very freeing. It will always be cats though. Dogs are too loud and needy. And when it comes to the being diagnosed younger thing, I think I've said this on another video, I'm not sure how much of my life it would have changed. I grew up in the 90s/early 00s. and people just wouldn't have understood on any level. And if I been diagnosed as a teenager, I would have probably felt ashamed of my diagnosis. And, like you say Meg, it would have changed all aspects of my life. Maybe some for the better but maybe some for the worse like not being in the right place to meet my partner.

For the power imbalance part, I taught my cat to talk with buttons, but she was already very demanding, so she just uses them to order me around. It's kind of good because I have a lot of trouble with task switching and as soon as she sees me finish a task she tells me to do something for her π

Also, I was just in the pets channel this morning asking for advice on how to deal with pets that are overstimulating! For me, these cats I'm babysitting are far too needy and social and it's been a nightmare, but I'm catsitting for several months :/

If she had accepted it she would became an Autism mom because she likes to be a victim and probably gotten a lifelong Conservativeship so she could continue to abuse me. On the other hand I'm upset because I feel like she refused to acknowledge I am Autistic so she can paint me as evil to her friends when I "misbehaved" so they didn't judge her bullying me, she was just another "tough love" parent and say I abuse her when she constantly pushed me, used me to be her task rabbit and caused my autistic meltdowns/burnouts/shutdowns that she claims is abuse. I can understand how its seen as abuse however I don't think its fair to push someone and then blame them when they retaliate when you know darn well what you are doing. If you can't see the pattern than you have a sieve for a brain.

That being said, it is 100% worth it for me to have them. They bring me so much joy, and comfort. There are also certain sensory aspects that are really soothing about cats like the purring and how soft they are. Sometimes they will lay on my chest to cuddle when I'm laying down and the pressure feels really nice. I honestly can't fathom a life without them.

It would probably have been good to be diagnosed as a young adult, then maybe I would not have suffered so much in college, and I would definitely have chosen another job when I quit studying... and I would not have gotten misdiagnosed for so long (with depression) and medicated the way I was. But as a child in the 80's, I don't know if it would have helped. I probably would have been mistreated by doctors and teachers >< In primary school we still had teachers using physical punishment: one of my classmates was always harshly punished for "not paying attention" and having bad grades, turns out he was dyslexic....

I think cats are the autistics of the animal kingdom. My cat is around 10-12 as she was adopted 6 years ago. I find watching cats on video is therapeutic. Have the nail problems with her. My landlord knows I have a cat and they are ok as long as itβs not causing problems no one complains. I think itβs more dogs because they bark. I see cat chores and wiping up the cats furball, changing litter as part of the deal of me having unconditional love. We both get unconditional love.

I agree it is seriously distressing to have that amount of power over someone else and the fact that you canβt communicate that everything is okay if they have to get surgery or if you have to give them medicine they donβt like. The nice thing about rats is that they donβt really need to eat any meat or dairy, and the worst thing about rats is that they live very short lives.

We were also on opposite ends of the world. It's too bad because I wish I could have talked to him about it and convinced all my other family members he wasn't just being grumpy all the time out of spite. I took up shotokan karate after I finished at school, then joined the territorial competition teams. Partly I succeeded due to everyone being disciplined. But PE in school was so bad on many counts. We won UK wide endurance team competitions, I was 22 when I was good enough to compete. When I was younger I had no sense of coordination and balance. But the karate seemed to help that.
