Scary Movie 2 - Full Length Reaction & Watch-along!

Comments

From what I recall the movie references I know are: Hannibal Poltergeist Hollow Man Charlie's Angels The Excorcist Save the Last Dance Dirty Harry And the iconic 2001 Nike commercial!!

Dale Clemons

That fight scene was a parody of Charlies angels (2000) Incredibly good action comedy. Definitely recommend. Maybe put it on a poll or just watch for yourself. Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore. Bunch of other fancy faces. 😺

Watching this movie again for the first time in years coupled with your reaction and I could not stop laughing 😂 thank you for the joyful reaction

You didn't like the strong hand, Vicky? LOL The next 3 movies switch over to Zucker brothers so they're more like Naked Gun movies. But the Wayans also did A Haunted House 1 and 2. Those are really funny. It spoofs the found footage genre.

I love this movie so much lmao the piano scene at the start, the clown under the bed (uncle Ray Ray's got a game) the possessed girl wiggling her toes in the pee lmfao

Gerardo Cardenas

I knew that rotten tomatoes score would undermine the movie a bit. IMDB is the only rating I consider. I mean the movie not great but it’s def funnier when you understand the references. It’s also one of those movies that’s so stupid it’s funnier the 2nd n 3rd time you watch it. I actually felt like you there’s too many gross shit going on I didn’t really like it at first. That’s why I think scary movie 3 is a little funnier.

My order is 1, 3, 2 for the scary movies i've seen

Best part of this is watching V's facial expressions and her looks to the camera, lol The Scary Movies are parodies not only of Horror movies but also of the pop culture trends at the time, so a lot of the references are going to go over your head. The mom in the beginning was also the actress that played the mom in the Exorcist. The things being popped in people's mouths are breath mints, V, lol The bathroom scene with James Woods was a reference to Amityville Horror Hell House is a combo reference to all the various films on house hauntings but especially The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting, House on Haunted Hill, and What Lies Beneath. I can't speak for all guys but I've 'tucked' lol before just goofing around but it's not practical, imo. I don't know how transwomen do it. Sitting on the testicles is not recommended, lol. Professor Oldman is played by Tim Curry, from Clue. His pervyness is a throwback to is role in Rocky Horror Picture Show. And the plot of him bringing people to a haunted house is a reference to Rose Red. Tori Spelling played the possessive girl. She had a rep in Hollywood, at the time, for nepotism and being difficult. This role was an attempt to fix her career. The clown doll was from Poltergeist The ghost sexual assault stuff is a reference to The Hollow Man, an Invisible Man remake. The religious stuff is suppose to be a reference to Stigmata The back tattoo scene is from Dude, Where's My Car? The loud-mouthed bird is a reference to Paulie Yes, the basketball scene is reference to a commercial that was weird at the time, too. The fight scene was a reference to Mission Impossible 2 combined with Charlie's Angels, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Twister. The scene with Shorty's brain was a reference to Hannibal. Beetlejuice is...difficult to explain. At the time, Howard Stern did some work at finding the oddest looking people, the ones people would refer to as circus freaks. They also were an attempt to prove a point with beauty standards in Hollywood. Anyway, the odd people decided to capitalize on their 15mins of fame, even though many saw it as exploitation, with the MTV crowd and the Howard Stern crew. Frequently scene with the more raunchy and low brow humor stuff. The guns, goggles, and platform are a reference to Thir13en Ghosts The 'do you feel lucky' is a reference to a highly quoted line by older people from Dirty Harry. There are also quote references to Pet Cementary, The Changeling, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Little Shop of Horrors, Urban Legend, Titanic, and Save the Last Dance. The butler is Chris Elliot, he was a popular comedian and comedy writer at the time. He has a...quirky, lol, kind of humor. Cabin Boy was his big lead role. He also has some noteworthy work in Groundhog Day. Wheelchair sports started to become popular at the time, too. That's what the race was about. The disrobing down the stairs scene is a Charlie's Angels reference. It's okay to groove to the song, V, lol, separating the artist from their work is okay. If we banned all things made by not great people, we wouldn't have anything, lol, plus more people than just R Kelly worked on that song. Does all of their work deserve to be banned because of one popular bad person on the crew?

So, ironically as you were saying the movie didn’t make sense, I finally after over 20 years pieced it together. Not a good plot by any means, but it’s a parody movie. Also, you’re gonna hate me for saying this, but while I also cringe at the dinner scene, the part where “hand guy” screams “Hiawatha!!!” with the turkey on his er… wing was one of my favorites, along with the clown under the bed bit. I literally rewound it multiple times as a kid laughing so hard I cried.
