Shrek 2 (2004) | Full Length Reaction & Watch-along! πŸ°πŸˆπŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Hi loves!!
I'm SO sorry for the delay in posting this, there were some issues with the upload (and then I've been so severely sick the last couple days (as you'll see in the next film I'll be uploading LOL) it felt like my brain was melting) so it took a bit longer πŸ™

But this was right before I got sick and lemme tell you, I had SO much fun with this movie, it's impossible to watch it without having a smile on your face:) I think this is either equal, or even BETTER than the first Shrek (which I thought was impossible????)

ANYWAY i hope you have fun experiencing, or reexperiencing this movie along with me <3 thank you for joining me on these fun little adventures, I keep them close and really adore them, I hope you do as well. πŸ₯°β€οΈ

LET ME KNOW YOUR FAV PARTS πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–

I also found this one better than the first. I watched Shrek in theaters back in the day and enjoyed it. Gave Shrek 2 a chance and was pleasantly surprised that they made a whole movie about the 'elephant in the room' topic of beauty standards and the rejection of those that don't live up to those standards. This topic has been argued over for thousands of years throughout all human societies and tribes. Scientifically speaking, its best for our species to be a mix of all types of forms of human because a variety of genetics is the best way to be able to constantly adapt to ever-changing physical and societal environments as well as evolutionary mutations in parasites, bacteria, viruses, and resources. But our base childhood desires and instincts will always be in conflict with this. I say childhood desires and instincts because it is in childhood (when we have a brain that isn't fully developed) when we start to choose things we desire because of shallow reasoning of looks and "types" (aka preferences). Often that reasoning is forced on us with how we absorb media, and media sees more profits with selling the ideas of beauty standards. So it falls on us with how we raise each other when it concerns how we treat each other and how we find partners. In many cases, it inevitably ends up that people learn the hard way (positive and negative perspectives) that appearances and "types" aren't what they are cracked up to be, but usually that only happens after a fully developed brain. Prince Charming is literally a trope, that's why it's Jamie Lannister coated. The point being that spoiled and physically/financially 'blessed' people are perpetually immature because they, in theory of course, never had to go through growth due to hardships and over mothering/pampering. Obviously, this is also a biased standard just as much as the large conventionally unattractive oaf must always be laughed at as the buffoon and can only be coupled with someone that 'looks/behaves' just like them. The real truth, however, is that it doesn't matter because everyone must grow and develop at whatever pace they do and must venture out into the world in order to learn the life lessons they must. We can only teach and guide so much. People must be allowed to find themselves however they end up doing it. Hearts will be broken, friendships will be lost, people will grow apart, people will hold on to falsehoods to their own self-detriment until the universe humbles them. That's how it will always go. That's why we keep telling the same types of stories with updated interpretations and modernized styles of artistic mediums. When they say comedy speaks truth to power, they mean all forms of power, including the power in societal norms of beauty standards. Its easier to teach and guide with mockery, and mockery creates discussion on topics that are discomforting to have opinions on, especially opinions that are in opposition to the standard norms. It breaks the ice, so to speak. Plastic surgery was rampant even back in my day. The stuff available today obviously wasn't but the craving to alter your appearance will always exist. The fact that we have allowed an entire industry to exist that profits off of shaming people into conformity of vanity will always sadden me. But I will always defend that people must be allowed to make mistakes, even permanent ones because we all just aren't the same. Every aspect of our personalities must grow and develop at different rates. Its the only way we will take life's lessons genuinely to heart. I will say though, lol, the current plastic surgery trends are quite grotesque, imho. Blows my mind that people think its attractive but I am also not a part of that crowd that would anyway so, lol. C'est la vie. I don't remember Shrek 3 very well but I know the comedy is still there. Didn't watch Shrek 4 and I heard they were making a Shrek 5 2027 so...there is also a 'holiday' Shrek movie in-between 3 and 4 that I never saw either. I do love that since fairy tales aren't copyrighted material because they are centuries old stories, that these movies can spoof the hell out of their one-dimensional character tropes, lol. Really allows for the creativity to flow.
