So.. we FINALLY did The Tale Of Princess Kaguya!! 🌸
I’m so sorry it took so long - I got so caught up with Star Wars and moving/winter semester I hope you guys will forgive me! 🙏🏻
I was really surprised going into this movie because of the unique art style that I had never seen done before - at first I was a bit hesitant to see how it would fall into a movie type of deal but I was so pleasantly surprised. I fell in love with the art and how it was animated, it was subtle, it was delicate, and it was elegant. I love everything about it and wish we had more films with this type of traditional painting art style. (I know we can’t have that though because it was entirely hand drawn and cost about 43 million to make the movie WHOOPS LOL)
But I loved it so much, it really was a pleasant surprise and I think it falls into my top 3 favorite Studio Ghibli films. ❤️

I agree!! The feeling this movie gave me was so difficult to describe, I still don't know how to, all I know is that I ADORED it. The storytelling, the art, ugh all of it was amazing. I enjoyed it very much and I'm glad you did too. :) I think everyone has similar feelings that this movie invokes, but they're so difficult to describe you never know if someone feels the same way you did after watching it! I've been wanting to see some of the older live action movies like Seven Samurai in full. Those classics have a great cultural trade with the US, and the Westerns that came out soon after. After a decade or two, Japan finds new inspiration from the US again. Just like Anime today (Cowboy Bebop). The cultural tennis match continues. Love it!
