Maybe when she's old?? That's why I was like "Could the aunt be her in the future??" I DON'T KNOW. I WAS SO CONFUSED LOL

But, this anime is a sequel to the original. You don't have to know the original story to enjoy it, but it might be good to know that Makoto's aunt, Kazuko, was the heroine of the original story, who did time travel in her youth.
