Also about Captain K, when he shows up at Jojo’s house right after the Gestapo does the bicycle he’s carrying is Rosie’s, suggesting that he already knew that she had been hung and showed up just to protect Jojo.

This is the first time the two of them decide they have nothing left to lose by hiding their relationship and choose to go out on their own terms

2021-12-17 02:26:27 +0000 UTCThis film is a masterpiece. If you rewatch it you will notice so many new things, there are subtle and powerful elements throughout, it is so well crafted. I didn't break this time until the scene where jojo goes to elsa with his hitler youth knife. I love that scene, her smile to jojo before alarm and acceptance, his impotent anger and despair. Also I have to say Sam Rockwell (Captain K) is wonderful and I think one of the best actors in the world.

It was really funny and witty, I definitely did not expect that twist and... it really hit me when I realized what had happened. It wasn't until AFTER the film that it really sunk in for me (all the details and true meaning behind the film) but I find it to be masterfully done and deserves all the credit it is given. 100%.

Ah there is so many small touches in this film that maybe some see as very simple but they just make the movie so much better for me. Pretty much every scene with Rosie has so much purpose when I saw it, with him and Elsa. The way Taika used his manifestation of Adolf for what the teachings and beliefs he was being taught was just great. You are right, it very much is quite a fun film until the change after Jojo finds his mother in the square.. and the fact that it was a butterfly that led him to her after their conversation about love earlier, and the fact that he finally ties a shoe and its hers.. man that hit me in the gut so hard when I saw this in theaters. So many small nods and clever connections, I love it more and more every time I watch it. It has one of my top favorite wide shots in recent films I've seen. You may feel you didn't say much but I thought your reaction was great and your facial expressions share a lot as you watch. :)
