An Inquiry about Pledges/Billing
Added 2022-09-30 18:48:53 +0000 UTCHi, guys! I just recently got an email from patreon, and they seem to be offering a new billing method. This would only affect NEW patrons, so for the rest of you, things would stay the same.
Basically, the way it currently works is you pledge and you get charged up front, and then your next charge is on the first of the month.
The new option offers the option to charge every 30 days from pledging, so if you pledged on the 18th, you'd be charged on the 18th of the next month.
There are pros and cons to both. Being honest, the current billing option is convenient for me because I can keep track of my monthly earnings together, but I also know that this billing method can inconvenience patrons who pledge later in the month or need a bit more time due to pay periods, etc.
So I'm mostly curious what you all think. I don't want to make any changes without putting a lot of thought and care into it. As I said, current patrons will not be affected if I do make the switch.

Yeah, that's how I feel when it comes to the backend side of things. I DO know that existing patrons would still be charged on the 1st, so even if I make the switch, you wouldn't be impacted, but I really wanna take the time to get enough input so I know what is the right option for new patrons, and you raise a really good point.

I like to get billed for everything at the beginning of the month, so that I have a clear deadline for when to review/cancel/update all my pledges at once. If my pledges were suddenly getting billed at random intervals throughout the month, that would be much less convenient for me.
