Madonna - True Blue Album Listening Party/Uncut Album Reaction

Madonna - True Blue Album Listening Party/Uncut Album Reaction

Comments

This is my favorite album by Madonna…Live to Tell and La Isla Bonito are my favorite on the album❤️❤️

Samantha Larick

Live to Tell sounds so cinematic because it was actually written for a movie soundtrack. The movie was called "At Close Range" and starred Madonna's then husband Sean Penn. Love Makes the World Go Round was basically Madonna's response to not being invited to take part in the recording of that truly dreadful charity song We Are the World. Apparently, the songwriters and organizers of the whole thing Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie thought she wasn't a good enough singer to take part, which according to Nile Rodgers, who was with her when she found out, really hurt her. So she wrote Love Makes the World Go Round instead and premiered it at Live Aid, one year before the release of the True Blue album. And when for the big finale at Live Aid all the stars that had performed there sang We Are the World together Madonna refused to join them on stage. Good for her! 😂

For someone who claims they don’t dance, you were sure grooving 😂 Love it - the power of Madonna! Madonna also loves La Isla Bonita - she’s performed it on almost every tour. I believe this is her best selling album studio album? Can’t wait for the videos - they’re amazing. She was definitely doing a throwback for some of this - White Heat had dialogue from James Cagney (google him), and Jimmy Jimmy was an ode to James Dean.

this is such a happy album.

The first album Warner allowed her to Executive Produce. Prince was 18 when Warner allowed him to do the same, she was 28. They were born the same year. They had recouped more than they advanced with The First Album and Like A Virgin and the massive success of Into The Groove gave them enough confidence to allow her to executive produce her third album. The first major pop album on.a major label to be executive produced by a woman. They thought it was going to flop because they believed she was a flash in the pan. But they still wanted to recoup the advance from their contract renewal so we're down her back. She chose Patrick Leonard who was the music director of The Virgin Tour and long time friend and co-creator Stephen Bray to so the album with. Papa Don't Preach wasn't written by the three but produced by Madonna and Bray, Madonna and Bray co-wrote and co-produced True Blue and Jimmy Jimmy as well. Open Your Heart came in as Caunge of Heart which Madonna totally rewrote and co-produced with Leonard and also co-wrote and co-produced with Leonard White Heat, Live To Tell, La Isla Bonita and Jimmy Jimmy the three did Wheres The Party together. The label was shocked by her using her natural lower voice the more mature sound and the totally new look. And were afraid Madonna would crash hard. They fought her on live to tell as the lead single which hit #1 and biggest song of 86, Papa Don't Preach also a fight and #1 with controversy, True Blue #3, Open Your Heart a #1 and La Isla Bonita a #4 the first album by a female artist to have all released singles go top 5 and have 3 #1s. The album went on to sell over 25 million copies the most at the time for a female artist and to this day one of the biggest albums ever. Making Madonna the only artist who's sophomore outsold her debut and whoa third album outsold her sophomore album. Not her best album definitely a vehicle for singles but some great fan favorites

Oh and good catch on the bad boys, she was marrying the ultimate bad boy Sean Penn at the time. True Blue is about him

Surely he will to a listening party for the Who’s That Girl album

Hey Steven - Brilliant reaction! I love your genuine excitement and appreciation, and I'm excited to continue this journey with you. The word 'iconic' is used way too freely these days, but Madonna is truly iconic in the purest sense!

Could hear you talk about music all day, especially Madonna. This was first fell in love with Madonna, 1986. This was the first album i purchased as a kid, and i was hooked. This is a great album, apart from the last 2 songs. And you hate sand? Nooo, i love it, i'm at the beach every day.

Awsome! This is her best selling studio album and the the best selling album of 1986, with over 25 million copies. It's also her most streamed album as of now. - You will see in the videos how much of a departure this was. It was her first really shocking reivention of many to come, only one year after the Virgin Tour. - Don't worry about seeing La Isla Bonita live, it's like top 5 amongst her greatest hits, so you'll see it a lot along the journey in great and different renditions. - there's no True Blue Tour, the album will be promoted alongside the soundtrack for her feature film "Who's That Girl" which will also name the tour. - that's why after the True Blue videos you must react to her songs that are on the soundtrack: 'Who's That Girl', 'Causing a Commotion', 'The Look of Love' and 'Can't Stop'. I say "you must" cause she'll obviously do some of those songs on the tour, and Who's That Girl was number 1 on the Hot 100, so kinda mandatory :)
