*NSYNC - No Strings Attached Listening Party

Suuuuuper late lol But I loved how much you had to replay JC's parts. Made me proud to have been JC girlie from the beginning. It's great to see all the love he has in the comments too 🩷 If I remember correctly, he was started out as more of a dancer than a singer, so it's amazing that, in my opinion, he had the best voice of the group as well. Also, Lance usually took the lower parts. As for wedding songs, I'm a year younger than you, and I used K-Ci and JoJo's All My Life.

Jenny D

still hurts to know that not too many people are familiar with JC :") he was THE voice in that band & i will gladly die on that hill

nicole

Interesting that you said that it sounds like the same person because JC had a hand in writing almost every song on the album.

Ashley Murphy

Funny that you said Bye Bye Bye was their biggest hit off this album it's actually It's Gonna Be Me. Bye Bye Bye only got to #4 and It's Gonna Be Me was #1.

Ashley Murphy

I am super duper late to this video, but I'm a hardcore *NSYNC fangirl from way back, so I'm going to comment anyway. LOL. First, as much as I love and respect all the various boybands, I still believe JC was the best singer from any of them, and I will die on that hill. The fact that his solo album flopped is a travesty - it was ahead of its time. If you listen to Harry's "Music For A Sushi Restaurant" it sounds like it could have been a track off JC's Schizophrenic album. Highly recommend that you give that album a listen sometime! Second, the huge thing that set *NSYNC apart was that they had true 5-part harmony, which no other boyband has had, as far as I can recall. Lance singing the bass notes and Chris singing the countertenor really lifted the quality of their harmonies to another level. Third, if you've never seen it, I recommend checking out their FOX Christmas special from 2000... they did some cool rearrangements of the hits, did the only live performance of "I'll Be Good For You" that I know of, and did their incredible a cappella version of "O Holy Night." And finally, I would looooove to see you react to the DVD of the Pop Odyssey tour. That show was epic in every way. Thanks Steven!! <333

Hey Steven! I just joined your patreon and I love it!!! I’m 12,000% here for any throwback albums you want to do! I’m 37, so this was my teenage years, so nostalgic! Their cover of “I thought she knew” is my favorite on this album so so beautiful!!! I can’t wait to jam out more with you!

I’m here watching this so late but YESSS. I was born in 94 and boy bands were everyyyyything to us back then lol Backstreet Boys were my first concert at 6 years old and NSYNC my second concert at 7 years old lol. To this day, any time I hear “friday night” I start singing Just Got Paid lol this album is still so great 20 years later.

Nikki S

Just wanted to say I'm doing my first workout of 2021 to this video, haha!!

Janet Michelle

Have you seen Ariana performing with *NSYNC (minus JT) at Coachella in 2019?! So good. I'd love to see your reaction! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQUan-FTdJI&list=RDWN31HOeMN_M&index=2

Erin D

Given how much of a "classic" this album is this reaction is also great on multiple re-watches. Can't wait to have a few more "classic" album reactions. <3

David Williams III

You should do the old Dixie Chicks Home album since their newest one just came out!

kaitlyn ridley

THE NOSTALGIA! I was born in 1984 so this is absolutely my youth. I was more into BSB but NSYNC was my #2. I haven't listen to these songs in 19 years and now I feel old and young at the same time :-)

Stefanie

Love this!!! On “Just got paid” it was JT rapping and this song was a remake of Johnny Kemp’s original song. You asked if the guys were involved in writing of this album and they were. JC helped co-write “Space Cowboy”, “Digital Get down” and “No Strings Attached”, Justin co-wrote “I’ll be good for you” I think on that track you can hear the direction his music would eventually go. Lance was the Bass on “I thought she knew “ which by the way was the first song the group ever sang together. Can’t wait to see more throwbacks!! If you find some time to do a reaction to their No Strings Attached Tour or their Pop Odyssey Tour that would be magnificent!! Thanks Steven this definitely brought back soooo many memories!!! I do wish the US version had “If I’m not the One” love that song!!!

Omg yesss Steven this album is ICONIC! Love this throw back listen. Forgot how good this still slaps! NSYNC seriously walked to One Direction could run man. I remember when 1D first came out and I was like damn they're givng me NSYNC/Backstreet Boys vibes HARD lol. Also please try and find me any human who seriously dislikes JT because he is just so amazing whatever he does!

Mal

I am 100% here for these throw back listening parties!! I was a total fangirl for NSYNC back in the day. Watching/listening to this was like listening to this album for the first time all over again. I haven't listened to it in AGES! THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking me/us down memory lane. It's been so much fun and I desperately needed this today. RE: Just Got Paid... If my memory serves me correctly, I do believe it was a mix of JT and Chris doing the rap part. Don't hold me to that but I'm pretty sure that's who it is. And now that I'm WAAAAYYY older and have lived life a little... who the fuck let me listen to Digital Getdown at 14 years old?!? Fun fact: The NSA tour was my first ever concert and P!NK and Sisqo were their opening acts for the concert I was at. Also... is it insane that I still remember the choreography for Bye Bye Bye and It's Gonna Be Me?? Cause I'm rather proud of myself for remembering it all these years later along with remembering all the lyrics. *insert nerd face emoji here* EDITED TO ADD: It's Lance that's responsible for the fabulous bass tones you hear in the last track. He has a gorgeous bass voice.

Casey

Ok first I am so in for these throw backs I graduated in '04 and I was totally an N'SYNC girl. Second you need to do a concert series on these guys. The Popodyssey Tour was epic!!! Third thank you so much for all the feels with this one. I was bullied alot in school and this group got me through it!!!!!

Amanda Tinsley

I was so excited to see this album pop up on your Patreon, and was very ready for a good throwback, and you did not disappoint. And as with One Direction, it is really cool to see a guy who isn’t so toxic in his masculinity that he can’t appreciate good music, just because it’s a “boyband”. You were rocking out just as much as I was over here. Just as I felt I had outgrown my boyband days when One Direction came about, I felt the same with NSync back in the day. My “teenage girl” boyband was NKOTB, and by the time NSync and BSB came around, I was in my 20s, and also a mom. While I could and still do appreciate the talent of BSB, Nsync always has and will hold a special place in my heart, and particularly, this album. I had a special needs son who, at four years old and more than two years of speech therapy since he was developmentally delayed, still was not able to use two or three word sentences as he should have been at the very least. One day, he was dropped off from preschool, and the bus driver told me that if I didn't already have it, buy the album No Strings Attached by NSync, and play the song Bye Bye Bye for my son. She’d been playing it on the school bus, since the kids loved it, but had been watching my son react to it. So, obviously, I did and they had managed to accomplish what all that professional speech therapy had never done. He was mimicking every lyric of the song, not entirely intelligible at the time, but "Hey, baby come on" was the very first cohesive phrase he came out with. So, not only did his speech therapist start using this album in his sessions, since he seemed to be musically motivated, but his physical/occupational therapists started using the music videos and Live from MSG for the dance moves, to try and teach him coordination and motor skills, as they were also extremely under developed for him. And in a little over a year, he was functioning just well enough to enter a public school. So, for that reason, I am forever grateful and love NSync to bits. As an individual, though, I was still more musically drawn to NSync than BSB, if for no other reason, the full five-part harmony of this group. That's why I appreciate JT, even if his voice was not entirely my cup of tea with as grainy and nasally it could be. JC was honestly my preferred vocalist here, since not only did he sing more from the chest, but he could be really smooth, or as you pointed out in one of the songs, he could get that growl, aggressiveness going on that just sounded so damn good as well, and also great range. Really wish his solo career had gone even HALF as well as JT’s, since he had the talent and the energy to be one hell of a performer on his own as he was with the group. The most underrated singer in all this, however, is Joey Fatone. His voice and tone was just so beautiful, but you rarely got to hear it in the forefront, which is why I appreciate acapella songs like I Thought She Knew and O Holy Night. Even if they didn't each get individual parts, which they mostly did in ITSK except for Lance, you heard more of their individual voices in the harmonies, because it wasn’t just something in the background. They actually were the composition of the song, rather than instruments. Even Chris had an amazingly easy to listen to voice for being so high. Nothing I heard from BSB could ever beat NSync’s harmonies, and acapellas especially. But I feel there’s a reason this album has stood the test of time. They were a very special combination that has yet to be duplicated for me, even with as much of a NKOTB and 1D fan as I was/still am.

Dawnie Haywood

The whole time watching this I kept thinking to myself “I cannot wait until he gets to ‘I Thought She Knew’”... I knew you’d go nuts over the harmonies and the a cappella. If you’re interested Lance Bass (the bass of the group) has a “Popcast” and he did an entire week focused on No Strings Attached. There were 5 episodes each day was an interview with a different member (including JT!!) and they go into depth about their thoughts on the album and that time and all the things. It made my fangirl heart so happy. Also, if you think at 34 years old I don’t still know the choreography from the music videos/tour you would be incorrect, and I’m not even embarrassed. *NSYNC made me discover my inner fangirl and I’ve never looked back.

Michelle Bourey

I’m going to date myself here but this album came out my senior year of highschool and it was amazing. I can remember blasting it in the car on the way to graduation lol. The rap in Just Got Paid is Chris and Justin. I am absolutely loving this throwback reaction. I make my kids listen to this music now and my 7 year old loves NSYNC!

Emily Smoot

Also turning 30 this year and this gives me sooo many feels. JC is so so so so under appreciated, he always had the best voice in the group I felt. JT had the lead man charisma with also an obviously great voice. It’s very Zayn vs Harry similar to me. But I just love them all 😭 ♥️

Michael Beveraggi

I was a JT girl but I always felt like JC deserved a better solid career. His vocal capacity is out of this world. I think JT had an ability to switch his range to fit almost any song and that was why he got more attention. And while they’re both gifted I think JC definitely has more powerful vocal ability. It was the same thing I always argued with the pop princesses of the same era. I loved Britney but Christina and Jessica had so much more vocal ability. Justice for JC.

Monica Torres

I was born in 87’ so I remember this time period well. My favorite album from them. I was obsessed with them. Was definately an NSYNC girl. And ah yes Y2K everyone was afraid the world was gonna end.

Amanda Kitubu

@Regina - I was also more of BSB girl, but *NSYNC was my #2.

Jaede Brereton

from it makes me ill that is lol

Ariana Moskwa

same feelings when i heard ariana grande sample it in her song. i was PUMPED lol

Ariana Moskwa

This is amazing!! Took me back! It was JT rapping on "Just Got Paid."

Jaede Brereton

I was a Backstreet Boys girl all the way and it’s 25 years ago for me.. This is a great throwback though and would LOVE to see you react to BSB. Btw JC’s voice was my favorite back then and listening to the album now - it still is.

Regina Sheffer

throwing out a prayer that we'll eventually get a Backstreet Boys reaction!!

Amanda M.

JC’s voice is forever my favorite. Even 20 years later and it still makes me swoon. I don’t think he ever got the credit he deserved because of JT.

Michelle Bourey

hell yeah limewire! best virus to ever exist bahahaha

Ariana Moskwa

It’s gonna be me: remember this was when JT first started to experiment with his love for beat boxing. Most fans didn’t realize it until Pop. Now I’m gonna hold my breath for your celebrity and Justified throwback reactions. We’re gonna also need the reaction to the celebrity tour. We need to find an HD version bc that tour was insanity.

Monica Torres

Yesss. First like, let have some fun 😍

Christina
