Opinion polling, next moves

As you know I have recently gotten enough patrons to quit my student job, and am now ready to cautiously probe an expansion of my online activities.
Note that I have not put up starting another story that updates real time as I don't have capacity to really do so.
Three options:
1: One of the things I have been thinking on doing for a while is of making a discord server to offer you a more organic way to discuss new chapters and other things. I think its added value to what is already there. On its inaguration I would do a live-voice Q&A sessions.
2: I like reading books and analysing them, so I've been thinking about dipping my feet into making a book review youtube video about some of my favourite works. I would also do reviews of some online novels and fanfictions, which you could be able to vote and chip in on, I think nobody is really doing this to any relevant extent and it has the potential to be funny.
3: I could write a novel for traditional publishing. I could imagine working on a novel unrelated to everything I do here on my own time. How I see this going is: You pick this option. I write a novel, I try to get it published, it fails, I end up uploading it to my patreon and you read it anyway, just that the process was different.

For 3: I was thinking of finishing the novel and then trying to get it published with an agent. I'd only do chapter by chapter if that fails. Yeah I guess if I go on youtube it would at least have the option of blowing up and serving as an advertisement. Although, I'm not a pretty face and don't have a sexy voice so who the fuck knows if there's any chance at all.

2024-05-07 12:43:54 +0000 UTC1.) Discord can be a good background addition. Put it up and let followers chat betwixt themselves. (don't necessarily have to do anything beyond that) 2.) The review videos allow others beyond those here to find and follow you through posting on YouTube. 3.) With writing a novel you can post chapters on RR as you write and possibly gain a whole new following. You can then create a separate Patreon for that story as well and have another possible revenue stream.

2024-05-07 09:15:16 +0000 UTCDon't bother with self publishing, it's a huge investment in time and effort. Self publishing with kindle is easier but I reccomen looking at other authors who have done so, like beware of chicken or some others how they did it and how many readers they had before doing it. Some like portals of infinity author only break even or slightly profit depending on genre.
