That's like me... Scope and bipod/front-grip (only because we got issued them in Iraq but were told they all "broke"). I went with a scope because my shooting buddy likes to shoot in the 300-600m range (somehow there's never a wait at those lanes).

In Germany they try to make you buy a dozen mods for traditional hunting weapons,too. I am a hunter myself and the catalogs are getting bigger and bigger. Good old 7x64 or 30.30 Winchester with a dot point or cross vision is doing a good job at ranges up to 200m. Of course it sure is fun to shoot with a 308 WinMag caliber and a high modern and heavy distance rifle! :3 Unfortunately every weapon with a mashine gun like firesystem is strictly forbidden here. It would be fun trying it on the shooting range.

Yeah the accessories have become more weight and bulk than the weapon itse​lf just seems stupid to​ me.

Tacticool af. All I need is a set of back up iron sights, a red dot sight, and a grip pod (combination evil vertical forward handgrip and retractable bipod) and I'm good. Anything else is overkill.

You would only need holo-sight, iron sighs, decent rail system, and a forward grip. a light is useful if for house protection, and Laser insist really needed.

I don't really know anything about the MP-10. (In fact, I'd never heard of it until I saw Jay's comment about it. But, I know what you're talking about where drop in power is concerned. The larger calibers have better kinetic energy due to the larger size of the projectile but, they have lower velocity. However, as a friend of mine, who's into competition shooting, will say. It doesn't matter how fast the bullet gets there as long as it hits the target where you want it to. LOL.

I get 5.56 for the overall cost (being near half of a box of 7.62), but the overall drop in power of the 5.56 over distances is a bit of a turn off for me. The MP-10 is a nice platform, but my preference lies with DPMS since they are the industry standard basis.

I REALLY do like the AR-15. But, you really don't need all that paraphernalia on it. If you've got decent eyesight, peepsights work wonderfully well. Using peepsights, I hit the target 78 out of 80 shots and the K5 76 shots at 100 yards when I was in AF basic training. I love the AR. I just wish I could afford one and to be able to go shooting on a regular basis.

I think your laser rangefinder's in the way of your holo sight and your forward grip's in the way of your bipod. You really should just either/or it - if you want other features buy another AR-15 with the ones you needs for the job you're doing. ;)
