This is one of my absolute favorite movies. I remember my girlfriend at the time was terrified of the Pale Man (that's the name of the guy with the eyes in his hands). I remember thinking that was the coolest thing I ever saw. I don't remember much of the movie, but I just love this movie. My grandparents were around the age that I would think the ladies in the movie were (the main stars Carmen and Mercedes). But they were Cuban so I imagine they lived in Cuba. But my grandmother knows what happened in that time in Spain. She know all about people like the Captain and what happened back then. I used to always say loudly in Spanish as a joke.. "Mercedes!!! You were named after a car!" with that name but you know it's actually the opposite. The car company was named after a woman. The founder of Mercedes-Benz named the company after his daughter, whose name was Mercedes Adrienne Ramona Manuela Jellinek. She was Austrian. It's interesting because her name definitely sounds Spanish. The Spanish love to have almost as many names as Daenerys Targaryan.

I was in the same position as Sam watching this one, where I had seen Pan's Labyrinth before but I barely remembered a thing about it, so it was almost a first-time watch for me because of that. Thanks for giving me an excuse to watch this one again. :)
