100% agree with Florian. I think they should watch it. When you have watched so many bad sequels, it really doesn't seem that bad at all.

Fun fact: actor John Ashton (who plays Taggert) was actually only 38 when he filmed Beverly Hills Cop 2!

I think you never saw Escape Plan 2 or Die Hard 5 !!! ") In Comparisn to this Films is Beverly Hills Cop 3 an Oscar Winner :) For me this Film has his Moments, Bronson Pinchot is Back and George Lucas had an Cameo :) For me this is the same as Rocky 5 and I think Rocky 5 is not so bad... The Trailer of Beverly Hills Cop 4 sounds good, so in my opinion it is no mistake to watch the Third One ... and the ImdB Rating is better than Fast and Furious 9, The Mummy ...

Under NO circumstances can you watch Beverly Hills Cop III.
It is genuinely one of the worst movies you'll ever see. End it here while it's still good.

Except for the opening scenes, his character spends most of Das Boot with a heavy beard so he really wouldn't be immediately recognizable.

I agree with so much of this! Definitely a lot to take from both films!

There's something interesting about this film. I like it, it's a fun time. I like how they factor in Billy, Taggart and Bogomil though Jenny not even getting a mention is kind of dismissive of the character and actress in my opinion.
Compared to BHC, I think BHC II is the better directed film. Tony Scott just has a panache and intensity that Martin Brest doesn't. The first is competently directed but it's not as visually stimulating.
However, there is a simplicity to the first one that I think works in its favour. Victor Maitland is an art dealer that's also an international drug smuggler. Axel exposes him to avenge Mikey. That's it. The bare bones plot is just a pretext for a series of masterful comedic beats starring Murphy. His great interplay with the rest of the cast being the highlght.
I also feel that Murphy after the first film became the biggest star in the world so there's something a bit more forceful about the sequel. With the original Murphy came in essentially last minute and sheperded what would probably have been a mediocre film into a blockbuster classic. The second feels a bit more like a vaniy project, being produced by Murphy and being co-credited with the story.
It's still fun, Billy, Taggart and Axel's chemistry is as great as ever. Billy's eccentricities realy shine and Brigitte Nielsen while not a great actress has a striking quality to her. This is probably the best she has ever been.
Ultimately, while BHC II is good, it doesn't have the banana in a tailpipe with the winking waiter or the quirkiness of Serge, Damon Wayans at the fruit bar or the Rolling Stones Magazine bit.
PS: Good luck with BHC III, I walked into that one knowing its reputation. I managed my expectations and was still disappointed. Maybe you'll vibe with it more. It's directed by John Landis.

Hey guys, great reaction. If anyone is interested I would suggest watching the recent Judge Reinhold interview on the Rich Eisen Show on YouTube where he explains that originally Sylvester Stallone was to be the lead in Beverley Hills Cop as he was such a big star at the time. I'll leave the rest to him to explain what happened. What a different movie that would have been!

Jurgen Prochnow, the main villain, played the captain of the U-boat in Das Boot. The worldwide success of Das Boot enabled him to have a nice, long career in American and British films.

Highlander Endgame was great, mainly because it continues from the awesome 90s tv series. Highlander the Source gets a bad rap but it wasn't too bad and wraps up the franchise nicely. Of course Highlander 2 was abysmal, it was to Highlander what 'The acolyte' is to Star Wars.

80's movies staples: gratuitous T&A, unrealistically large explosions, massively destructive car chases, amazing soundtracks, and training montage. This is why 80's movies are the best!

LOL. I have to agree with you on that about Highlander, unfortunately. As much as I love the original film, the sequels imo, are the equivalent of a Toyota Highlander driving into the ocean and sinking to the bottom of the Challenger Deep. It's as low as you can go. jk. I did enjoy the TV series though for a bit for whatever reason.

You never know how people are going to react to a thing, regardless of how strongly you feel about it. So I'd never tell a reactor to skip or stop a series. I'd much prefer that they be given the chance to form their own opinions.
Well, except maybe the "Highlander" sequels.

Interesting indeed. Part III must have really biased me against the series because as I re-watched this one, I was reminded continually of specific scenes that I loved (and love again) in this movie. Like the scene with the turtle, or Gilbert Gottfried picking up the phone, yelling "BITCH!" and slamming it down. That said, when thinking about the movie as a whole, it is painfully derivative of the first movie, but all the individual parts were a lot of fun.
So, I stand corrected and I'm glad I watched it again.

I'm a completist. So I'm not going to tell you NOT to watch part 3. I still have pain in my brain from that experience in the theater.

Great reaction! Sam had me cracking up with the "C" robbery possibly being "Chicken", and in Detroit. π€£
Part III, I did enjoy watching as a kid, so it'll be interesting to see now that I'm older with you guys. I still think it's vital to view before Part IV comes out. Speaking of IV, I was gonna wait to watch it until you guys get to it, so hopefully it won't be too long of a wait. Haha. One of the rare first time Schmitt watchalongs.

They can't skip the third one, because of the new movie that's coming out soon. Besides that, it isn't that awful. π

Dent told Cain at the gun club, that he needs 10 million dollar, otherwise there would be bad consequences. So, he had a deal with Thomopolos to buy weapons for 10 million dollar, but didn't have the money, because all his businesses were bankrupt. That's why he committed all the robberies. At the end he gave the money to Thomopolos so that he can resell the weapons to South America, where he gets 10 times the money. I hope that helps with the confusion why he did what he did.π

Huh. I'm looking forward to watching this with you guys, because I remember the sequels being just awful. So much so that I've never had any interest in seeing them again since first watching them in the theater. Especially the third one. Maybe nearly 40 years of absence will open my eyes to some redeeming features of the sequels.

Sections of people also told them to 'skip Rocky 5' and they enjoyed that movie
The 4th one comes out July 3rd ,so they will need to watch 3 prior to that anyway

Brigitte Neilsen, the 'big bitch' was another 80s staple and used to be Sylvester Stallone's woman. She played Ivan Drago's wife in Rocky IV.
She's the star of 'Red Sonja', along with Arnold Schwarzenegger, a fun 80s fantasy film.

Dean Stockwell (Kane) and Jurgen Prochnow (Dent) are great 80s actors. Stockwell was Scott Bakula's co-star in the great 80s series 'Quantum leap'. Also both Prochnow and Stockwell starred in David Lynch's awesome 80s movie 'Dune'.
