Thorns - Redraw

It’s a little anemic, I think, the drawing is a bit flat and I don’t like a lot of the anatomy, and the colors are a bit garish. I felt like revisiting it and making a better effort with the line work:
I fixed the weird legs and feet and brought her face closer to the person who inspired the piece. I also made the thorns a little looser and more organic than the quite stiff ones in the original. I did a grey tone study first before adding the color:
And then finally colored the grey tones and with a little more subtlety than in the original:
A lot of my artist friends give me grief for revising old work (or even new work) instead of just having the confidence to leave it as it is, but sometimes I think the effort to fix it pays off!
