2023-01-28 18:59:31 +0000 UTCMy only real quandry with the show is Tess. I love Anna Torv (Fringe) but her Tess is much softer than the Tess in the game. Her and Joel are pretty equally matched in that, whereas in the show she defers to Joel more. I get why - it's a TV show & PP is the star - but it still niggles. But really I'm nitpicking, I do love the adaptation!

Outro was great as always guys and it seems there are indeed video out there damn you Daniel you already know everything haha

Without any real context, I think Pablo and Bella are both killing it...and I'm a huge fan of Anna Torv as well (Fringe, if you haven't seen it, is one of my all time favorite shows). I'm honestly fairly zombied out after...well, all of zombiedom. But I don't even view this as a zombie story. Just a good damn survival story so far. Can't wait for more.

Also, someone already mentioned that Tess is played by Anna Torv, but she was also in Mindhunter, I think I remember Sam once mentioned watching that show, I'm still impatiently waiting for season 3 of that one too. I'm going into this (nearly) totally blind, never played the game, but there are already spoilers out there apparently. Great premise, I remember the first time I heard about that fungus that infects ants and thinking someone is definitely going to turn this into a zombie movie lol. Btw, Austin is pretty close to Fort Hood, which is the largest US Army base in terms of land area, second in terms of population, so it was a great setting for the opening, and as a way to depict how the government response might be. One little criticism haha, the soldier says "Repeat that", that's a no-no, you never say "repeat" over the radio in the Army, you say "say again", repeat is used when you're telling the artillery to fire another volley at their previous target, and you don't want to accidentally do that, especially if your own troops may have moved into that area. Well that's what they told me anyway...

Everything was literally spot on, except like you said there was a little more in the beginning but what I really like is those are things that probably did happen in the game but they just weren't a part of the game. It's funny one of the first times that I ever saw this game be played was that scene where they drive past the burning house. I was watching Pewdiepie play it and he yelled out "Herschel!!!!!!!" LOL Which btw, one thing I immediately noticed was the burning house in the video game is on the right side. Everything else was exactly the same as the game. They probably want to see who would notice. It was so exact to the original game I remembered almost every part of it down to them being in the tubes. When it comes to cordyceps and what Sam was wondering about with that one guy.. The fungus controls the ant to position the ant as far up above the ant colony as possible, and then the fungus breaks out of its head and spores just explode out of the head of the ant, and infect all the ants in the colony below, starting the process anew. I don't remember anything about the stages in the game but this is how it happens in real life. It probably is not possible that this would ever be able to infect humans despite what was said on the talk show in the show at the beginning :) They usually will just pick some sciency bits and glue them together in ways that sounds really scary but would never work in reality. So when this game came out I was actually taking cordyceps as a supplement. So imagine my surprise when I'm literally eating the stuff that is infecting them in the video game LOL.

I think Joel not picking up that family on the side of the road (although very understandable and even justified), it's a moral choice that he pays for. If they pick up that family, it will take a few minutes. Then if they drive the same route, the streets are now blocked by too many people and their truck isn't on the street when that plane crashes and they don't get into an accident. Being on foot is what ultimately dooms them. Maybe bad things still happen to Joel/Sarah/Tommy, but we know terrible things happen to Joel because of that choice. It's a cruel punishment.
