I would add City of Angels; a rare, low-key romance film from Cage. Underrated Meg Ryan film too

Nope, Bruckheimer totally shut this down on Reddit - re Mason being Bond - "It was never discussed or even thought about." Google it.

Roger Moore had some great Bond flicks and Connery was the OG and still kinda the best imo. Maybe consider a couple titles from each Bond or something

😂 yes, that turned into quite a thread earlier on here. In the first post I provided a link to a great YouTube video covering the topic in detail. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s a pretty entertaining way to spend 15 minutes, even if you’re already familiar with the theory.

Great reactions, guys! I'm sure someone else has brought it up, but there is a fan theory (neither confirmed nor denied by the producers) that John Mason is actually James Bond.

For more Cage like this, the obvious choices are Face/Off and Con Air. For more of Cage in other modes, I think four of his best movies are Adaptation (although you should see Being John Malkovich first), Bringing Out the Dead (Martin Scorsese), Pig (a recent gem of a performance following a few years slumming it in less-than-great DTV and B-movies to recover from his tax advisor screwing him over), and Moonstruck (one of the best rom-coms of all time).

Saw the YT cut earlier today and loved it.
I really wanted to see the full lenght, too, but after 30min I gave up, because the old nemesis reared its ugly head yet again: PAL vs. NTSC.
So I am asking other European Patrons: How do you solve the sync issues? Is there any other way then stopping for a few seconds every couple of minutes to sync up again?

Nicholas Cage starred alongside Laura Dern in 1990’s “Wild At Heart”, a surreal, dark, romantic comedy crime thriller by David Lynch. Possibly Lynch’s most accessible film for people new to his style and one of my favorites.

Another Great Sean Connery Movies are "The Red Tent" from 1969 and "The Anderson Tapes" from 1971 ... And "The Russia House" from 1990 with Michelle Pfeiffer

This movie is absurd but I can't say I didn't enjoy the excuse for a rewatch, hah.
And FWIW, would be VERY here for you guys going through the original Connery Bond films - Dr No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and You Only Live Twice.
They are certainly a product of their time (Dr No came oout in 1962) but Connery is great and they have really influenced the culture over the last 60 years.

Not necessarily. 'Bubble Boy' and 'Jackass the Movie' are big, dumb, and stupid movies. Well, 'Bubble Boy' is dumb and stupid...I don't know if it qualifies as big. And I like those movies too. 'Armageddon' and 'Transformers' are big, dumb, and stupid, and I'm not at all a fan. So...it depends.

I really enjoy watching this movie. RIP Sean Connery & Willie Garson (Willie had a small role, but he was an actor I always liked).
The rope he was pulling out of the wall in the shower is to use as a clothes line.
Not just a Michael Bay movie, but Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer were well known for producing big action films. After Don Simpson's passing Jerry Bruckheimer was like a loose cannon, and the movies he produced were cranked up another eleven notches. It was almost like Don Simpson kept him on a short leash. But in their day, if you saw Simpson/Bruckheimer in the credits then you knew you were in for one hell of a fun ride. Bruckheimer still makes big action movies, but as fun as they are they are usually just a bit too far over the top.

Yay! I love this movie, I'm so happy you guys reacted to it, and what a great reaction it was! Also, I have to say, the music in this movie is fantastic. The score really stands out.
You know, it took me until almost the end of the movie to figure out where I knew David Morse from. I wasn't able to put the name to the face until I looked it up. Did you recognize him from The Green Mile? He played Brutal, the big, tall guard. I kept trying to place where I knew him from and only in that scene where he said to Hummel, "It's been an honor working with you, but..." and then everyone started shooting each other did I realize where I'd seen him before.
Can't wait to see what's next in store for you guys!

There is a story about the proction which is kinda funny. The producers put Bay under alot of pressure and were arguing alot. When Connery got wind from that he went to a meeting with Bay and basically said they should leave him the fu** alone :)

I'd agree, it's peak Bay! The cinematography, the score, hand-made action, barely any CGI. As a kid I also LOVED "Armageddon" - today I look back and just shake my head at my younger self. So, please don't judge me! :) "Bad Boys" is neat, I agree. But it's AGGRESSIVELY nineties! :)

Fun fact there is a great theory about this movie that Sean Connery in this movie is actually James Bond who was captured by the US. I'm not doing the theory justice you should watch the video on youtube, its really easy to find. The guy actually lines it up well with his movies.

Regarding Nicolas Cage: He does have this reputation of being crazy and over-the-top these days but he is also a very accomplished actor with quite a few good low-key performances.
I already messaged you privately some time ago but let me again (publicly :) recommend Martin Scorseses "Bringing out the Dead", starring Cage. I love that movie but I understand that it's strangely obscure (for a f-cking Scorsese movie!!). I also enjoyed his performance in "8mm" a lot, but that's a DARK messed up film.

Okay, some JAMES BOND realtalk here from a life-long fan! :)
Connery's Bonds are 1960s and, while amusing today, I think they are a bit long in the tooth and "rough" if you're not already a fan. I don't want to discourage anyone to watching them but the are very much "of their time" and are "interesting and charming" but they don't really offer anything noteworthy, especially these days. Aside from the retro-charme. I'd consider "Goldfinger" the quintessential Connery-Bond.
I find it hard to recommend any of the Roger Moore ones. Not that they're all bad (I owned every James Bond on VHS back in the day! :) but again; I think they're mainly interesting from a "film-historical" or "spy / Bond movie fan" point of view.
People tend to give "On Her Majety's Secret Service" a bad grade and it's the only one starring George Lazenby as Bond - BUT It's actually one of the better ones.
I personally never liked the two Timothy Dalton Bonds. I find them bland and not very charming. I'am aware however that the are well liked and quite close the books.
I adore "GoldenEye" with Pierce Brosnan! Watched it in the movie theater as a kid! THAT one is GREAT 90s fun an still works perfectly today (except the score maybe). And it has Sean Bean! :-) I do NOT care about any of the other Brosnan Bonds. "The World is not Enough" is probably the second best but already a big step down from "GoldenEye".
Daniel Craigs "Casino Royale" is da bomb! The BEST Craig Bond! "Quantum of Solace" is painful, I don't get the "Skyfall"-Hype but it's pretty good. Didn't care much for "Spectre" and "No Time to Die" was also a bit "meh". Unfortunately they are all connected more or less, so either stop at "Casino Royale" or take a hike down the Craig/Bond rabbit hole. :-) But overall it's pretty decent entertainment. There are many much worse movies out there.
TLDR: "GoldenEye" and "Casino Royale" are just so much fun, and "Goldfinger" is a classic! There are only a few really bad ones, but also quite a few mediocre films. I'd recommend watching a "top five" or something like that, and maybe more after that if you're hooked. You most definitely do not need to watch the old ones in sequence.
