Poll Poll ;)

Do you prefer the new or old voting style for Patreon Polls?

Comments

I hope other people concur.

Scott Kerr

Came back again to say this is the best idea lol A lot of losers are better than the winners

Jonathan Patrick

This!

Another reactor has a pillowcase pull, where she grabs a random dvd out from the many that are sent her. Maybe you can do a variation of it? Like jot down all the names of every movie recommended here and randomly pick one? Would be cool to mix it up like that. Polls are cool, but I can usually guess what will win(many of my generation - young Gen X/older millennials - have great nostalgia for the early to mid 90s and other eras really can't compete. it seems like that group is a majority here and on youtube. Which is why every reactor seems to react to so many of the same films I guess, their patrons keep voting for the same films (not every single time of course, but it's hard not to see the patterns)

Birdie Num Num

Maybe a losers bracket poll would be nice. For example, the movies that were worst on a poll get put on their own poll along with other worst poll-voted movies.

Scott Kerr

Oh well, no big deal . . . I'm sure it'll be enjoyable however it works out. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Patreon can't do that. I already proposed a similar limited votes idea and I was told that Patreon doesn't support it. It's either 1 or all.

Jeffrey Miller

I voted "no," but I have a different idea, which I think is logical, even if nobody agrees: Give everybody two or three votes, and let us use them any way we want. If I want to split up my votes, I can. If I want to vote three times for the same film, I can. Why not? Others will vote multiple times for their favorites.

William 1611

I would prefer to have multiple votes. With only 1 vote second choice films could appear to be much less appreciated than they actually are.

Mark Curtis

It was a joke lol bc sometimes the great ones are ignored by voters.

Jonathan Patrick

There's an idea: Give the people the exact opposite of what they want 🤨🤨

Aww so sweet! -Sam

I have an idea, make a poll, and all the movies that lose pretty badly, react to those movies 🤣🤣 😊

Jonathan Patrick

I like being able to vote for more than one movie. I usually only vote for 2 or 3 of my favorites.

Jen Barnes

Unfortunately, Patreon is setup for an all or one type of vote, so we don't have the ability to customize :( -Sam

Don't care about the voting,I just came to wish Daniel a "Happy Birthday" 🎉🎉🎁🎉🎉

Andrew

If unlimited means a patron can vote only once, but he/she can pick e.g. 2-3 movies I like it.

Jens Pfennig

Something else you could try, do something like a tournament bracket. That may be more trouble than it’s worth, I don’t know. Could be fun though.

Nick of Time

I vote yes. There is a LONG list of films on your watchlist, and I feel that a long list of selections will help shed a spotlight on those films that deserve to cut ahead in the line. On the most recent polls I did not vote for all the films I liked, I only voted for those that should be at the top of the ranking order. Multiple choice helps boost those films that are the best in quality, but won't get the most votes because it's not the most popular/well known. These results will give a better read on what films should stay on for future polls.

Michael Chavira

The way I see it, and I might be wrong, if there are 1000 people voting in a poll, lets say only 750 people decide to vote and they only get to vote once. There are 750 votes total. But say 500 people vote for 3 films each, there are 1500 votes. Whichever way you set up the poll, I will only vote for one film, therefore my vote counts for more. If you vote for multiple films, you just dilute your vote, each vote counts less if you split it up.

Mike LL

I voted "No," but I can see pros and cons each way. So not really bothered by it regardless of which direction you go.

Joel P

In regards to choosing a top movie, voting for them all is the same as voting for none of them.

Nicotti

I was initially going to vote no but after reading comments I was swayed. There are times when I have liked multiple options and wished I could have voted for them all. I like Jeffrey's idea of having limited number of votes, such as half the options, rather than unlimited votes.

Anthony Harris

Personally, I would like a system where I could vote for x number of movies. Just one vote seems limiting, but being able to pick all of them seems lame, like a participation trophy. There has to be a hard cut off point. Also, I think letting people vote for as many as they want could give a more distorted picture of how popular each movie is. I think with limited votes you'd more easily tell which movies you could choose for later. Then again, I'm not a math and statistics guy. I was thinking taking the number of movies in the poll and giving people half that number of votes. That seems more than generous. If it's odd, you can round up or whatever you'd like. The big problem is I don't even know if Patreon let's you do this so this might all be moot.

Jeffrey Miller

any al al pacino poll sometime in the near future? lol Scarface Carlitos way, etc 😁

dieselbeast

I think I'm fine with unlimited votes but I kind of wish it was one blind vote. The way things are I think people not only vote for what they want to win but vote against what they don't want to win.

Mark M

Definitely multiple choices because that gives a more accurate picture of which movies are popular amongst the patrons overall. Only 1 choice means many favourite movies have to be left out.

Jay

With unlimited votes, even if a film falls short of first, you get a good idea that your audience has an interest in said film.

Mario

Correct, only 1 vote per movie, but you can vote for as many movies as you'd like! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Lots of votes is good. I assume by 'unlimited' you mean enough votes to vote for every movie in the poll once, otherwise people will spam the vote button for the whole day and you won't have enough room on the page for the vote number next to the movie. Often there are too many great movies on the poll and when your fave doesn't get many votes it would've been good to support your no 2 choice that has a chance against the random crappy anime that all the kids are voting for ;)

Aaron Barlow

choice balloting is where it's at

Smooticus

For me, I sometimes like as many as 4 of the 5 choices so I'm happy to be able to support as many of those films as I want and I can always take away my vote if I decide I want to help a particular title win.

Jason Dolan

I never do more than two cos I think that's civil, but I feel I need that option a lot of the time
