2022-06-09 21:28:59 +0000 UTCThe thing about the scene with the jump was she was fully prepared to stick by her guns on that jumping was too dangerous until Johnny said, "Well, it looks like you got what you wanted.". That's when the shift happened. Robby told her earlier in the season she always got what she wanted and that was a major problem with her as a person. There's no growth without pushback. No conflict, no story. It was about standing up to her own blocks that allowed her to, almost literally, fly.

And there are actions taken by everyone on this show that some of them are right and some of them are wrong, and then some aren't really right or wrong but just not the best way to do things, but it doesn't really mean that person is bad. Everybody is on their own journey, and I dunno if you've seen the whole show or not so I won't say anything more except that Sam is changing from how she used to be. The whole thing with that confrontation between Sam and Johnny was "Are you going to do what everybody else expects of you, or are you going to go your own way." This is also something that is the theme of this season. You see how Robby is saying he doesn't trust Kreese. He's just using Cobra Kai to get what he wants. In the trailer there was y something Robby said that was in the same vein of "Go your own way." When people change there can be bumps along the way, the most glaring example is of course Hawk. But I'm in no way dissing Sam. I really love what Sam is becoming and her standing up to Johnny shows leadership and independence. It shows that Sam is finally coming into her own. She got burned by the demon, she faced her demons and now she's growing. And this is really inevitable when you have two different styles join forces and each sensei teach the other students their styles, the kids are going to have to choose their own path.

2022-06-06 16:52:55 +0000 UTCYes I get that it was for comedic purposes but don’t agree with your assessment on Sam, at least the show didn’t do as great a job at illustrating the point. If she knew that the jump was dangerous and she shouldn’t do it. Period. She ended up doing it because of her argument with Johnny followed by the text from Daniel. Sam has been kinda crappy lately I’ll agree but she seems to be pulled in all different directions by different people and the show makes it ambiguous who is right and wrong.

2022-06-06 14:37:26 +0000 UTCIn reality the jump was completely impossible and the mattresses would do nothing to cushion their fall. It was just there to be funny. Just Johnny being Johnny again. It was too far, both literally and figuratively but that's Johnny, especially with the Miyagi Dos. Sam was staying in the back seat in general though. Just how she tried to insult Johnny but the insult totally failed. Johnny's doing what he loves now. Of course he was laying passed out on the floor with empty beer cans around him for 30 years prior to that .. but details .. lol

This is one instance where I think Johnny went too far asking the kids to make that jump that looked dangerous and impossible. Sam was actually not staying 'in the back seat' by speaking up instead of blindly following. I guess the lesson didn't really make sense to me or the outcome really.
