Drama Movie Poll!

Help pick the Drama movie we will react to!

We're trying something new! We've adjusted the poll options, so you can vote for more films at a time - let us know what you think of this structure in the comments.

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Good Will Hunting and Sam has seen The Pianist, so those reactions will only be first time watching for one of us!

Comments

usual suspects is a classic.. its more like a heist movie i would say though!

24fps_

Dances with Wolves I think is the most beautiful and meaningful film along with Good Will Hunting and Gran Torino.

erik stone

Fearless if my favourite Jeff Bridges film!

Future Boy

I can't believe I didn't think of this! It's one of my comfort movies that I put on in the background that I've seen at least 10 times.

Jeffrey Miller

That's some pretty tough competition. Any time you've got two Coen Brothers movies in a list it's tough. And the movies that have had the most viewers will always have an edge. It's a numbers game.

David Martin

Now I'm excited! DDL in There Will Be Blood - one of my favourite performances of all time.

Future Boy

Yes !!! For Me Gran Torino is my Favorite her !!! But Fargo is also Great

Florian Meier

I think Gran Torino is easily the best film on this list. And directed by Clint Eastwood as well as starring Clint Eastwood. Great film.

Alex

The movie that shows Woody Harrelson is an amazing actor. Before that he was Woody on Cheers and you would've never guessed he can act that good.

Alex

No idea why Natural Born Killers is so low, the movie is so unique. Awesome soundtrack, awesome art style and awesome characters and performances.

Daniel Malefitz

I'm going to suggest "Untamed Heart" (1993) a romantic drama featuring Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei. It's a very underrated movie and one of my favorites.

Jeff Mills

There Will Be Blood is on the schedule so we can see more DDL! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I would like to suggest FEARLESS with Jeff Bridges and Rosie Perez. It couldn’t possibly win a poll because nobody has seen it. But whether you film a reaction to it or not, you both should watch it. It’s a beautiful movie.

Robert Boyd

Definitely need There Will Be Blood on the next poll

Jay

I can’t pick a favorite Nolan film. It’s like picking a favorite Kubrick, or Lynch. I just can’t.

Nick of Time

^^ I second this.

Colwyn Baily

Well, good. Thanks for clarifying ;) I'm glad it wasn't serious. I'm still trying to get people to watch Coen brothers movies

Scott Kerr

Okay, Legends of the Fall and Sleepers both get a HUGE thumbs up from me. Great suggestions!!

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Scott, it's a famous quote from The Big Lebowski (a Coen Brothers film.)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

lots of great choices in this poll!

Portis

???

Scott Kerr

There is ONE direct tie but the one does not spoiler the other. Should be totally fine.

PIG

Well that’s like… your opinion… man

PIG

That’s right, cheese :)

PIG

These are great so I’ll just repeat them for the next poll: No Country for Old Men Fargo Memento The Usual Suspects and something not on the poll: There Will Be Blood

PIG

I'm very much pro-woke politics, for the record. My point was not anti-woke politics, my point was that if people aren't voting for DWW it has nothing to do with that, and it's a silly thing to complain about.

Tyler Foster

Hoo boy, SO MANY great choices here! I voted for 7 films... can't really go wrong with any of the top contenders though!

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Memento will never win in this company, but I hope you choose to watch it one day. A truly original idea that will melt both of your brains (in a good way), and provide enough material for a 30 minute discussion at the end. It's my favourite Christopher Nolan film by a long way.

Future Boy

Or Miami Connection? 😂

mikethemotormouth

Too many good ones :( / :)

PIG

Boogie Nights starring Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds is a great film worth checking out

Ken Veader

Huge Robin Williams fan, one of my fav roles of his of course gotta go with Good Will Hunting

MIke

Yes to "We Own the Night"!

Jonathan Patrick

"A Civil Action" (1998 John Travolta, Robert Duvall) ^^ I've always loved this legal drama. Based on a True story but it gets severely overlooked. "The Insider" (1999 Michael Manns best, other than Heat) "Legends of the Fall" (1994) and "Meet Joe Black" (1998) both with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. I think would be great on the channel. And SLEEPERS (1996), Brad Pitt, Deniro and a long list of an all star cast. Also a true story.

Jonathan Patrick

You betcha!

Scott Kerr

You won't have an issue. However, I strongly recommend seeing the show. Especially the first season!! Aces!

Scott Kerr

Haha. 2 Coen Brothers movies winning the poll.

Scott Kerr

No one suggested 'Birdemic'? Lol

Aaron Barlow

I would recommend The Day of the Jackal (1973)

christopher brown

Dammit! Too many good choices! I really wish Patreon had a choice balloting option. that way we could select all of these by order of preference and not have to choose only one

Smooticus

A couple more come to mind…Prisoners and There Will Be Blood. I don’t remember seeing you watch those.

Garry L

I gotta throw my hat in the ring and suggest The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. A modern classic.

Garry L

What a list to choose from!

Jay

Ain’t no way you have Fargo and No Country in the same poll 😆, both are fantastic, quite frankly you’d be doing yourself a cinematic disservice if you didn’t watch every Coen flick ever, but No Country for Old Men is a masterpiece of filmmaking definitely in my top 5.

Charlie Keeler

Fargo is literally one of my favorite films of all time. It's so good and I know you'd love it.

Jeffrey Miller

Or maybe, and hear me out, other people don't like it as much as you do or they know nothing about it. I don't like Dances with Wolves because I think it's a boring ass movie and I really don't like Kevin Costner.

Jeffrey Miller

The Usual Suspects is my favorite movie of all time. It's phenomenal, with an excellent cast, and it's almost perfect. VERY highly recommended!!!

Matt and Lexi Reactions

The Impossible (2012) The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008) The Fountain (2006) Requiem For A Dream (2000) Black Swan (2010) Dead Man Walking (1995) We Own The Night (2007) Jojo Rabbit (2019)

Domino

Dan, you've hit the nail right on the head. This is why I'm here... to see them react to the movies with BIG REACTIVE SCENES. That's why movies like Terminator 2 reactions will always be more popular on Youtube than let's say October Sky. And of course better for their channel.

Philip Alan

I Hope Gran Torino win, but Fargo is also a Great Choice!!

Florian Meier

Thank you both! Daniel has seen American History X, but I have not :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Nope, shouldn't have any issues watching the movie first. Have you guys seen American History X? I don't see that in your guys' catalog. That's a must-see movie to add to the list if you haven't.

Dan

The TV show and the movie have nothing to do with each other so you should be fine.

Robert Boyd

Yeah, I mean obviously I don't mean all young people, there are quite a few who are awake to the political manipulation going on and the insanity of the woke politics. I agree the lack of people seeing movies is the key issue. I'm just an old fart so I forget how young many people are on social media and how things I take for granted because I grew up with them are unknown to many.

Aaron Barlow

A lot of good movies, but I feel like Momento, Fargo, and Usual Suspects would be the best for a reaction. NCFOM, Good Will Hunting, Dances with Wolves, and Gran Torino are good films, but there wouldn't be a lot to say beyond commending the acting and directing. Momento put Christopher Nolan on the map, and you'll never forget it. It's a fun movie to figure out in real time, and it's great on a re-watch as you're still putting pieces together. Fargo will stick with you for all the ...reasons. Quirky and dark, with characters both cerebral and dumb. Must watch on the style alone. Usual Suspects is a classic. A different take on the crime team caper. Looks like NCFOM will win it, even though I think it's a little overrated, imho. Still, great list of movies to sample for a second go around of votes.

Dan

ALL - Let me know if we're going to have an issue watching Fargo if we haven't seen the TV show. I figured no since it's much older, but let me know if I'm mistaken! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

You could try talking to some actual young people sometime. Most people my age like Dances With Wolves -- obviously I'm not going to spoil the movie, but anyone who thinks it's a white savior story wasn't paying attention (like the guy who wrote the embarrassing-looking Don't Look Up). I'd say Last of the Mohicans is probably more iffy if you were going to question how the movies approach Native Americans, and even then I don't think Mohicans is especially troubling, just a little more "Hollywood convenient" in terms of how it finagles a white lead. The fact that it's not winning is just down to fewer people having seen it, which is the deciding factor in 99% of reactor polls. If I were objecting to a movie on the poll for sensitivity reasons, it'd probably be The Pianist...and even then I still think Chinatown is a masterpiece.

Tyler Foster

True but I would say the same of any of the movies on this poll

mikethemotormouth

It's a good movie and yes a lot of young people are 'woke' now because it has been engineered to be 'trendy' and people's especially youth's desire to 'fit in' and be seen to be 'virtuous' causes them to suspend critical thinking and immediately hate on anything the mainstream tells them to hate on with buzzwords like 'racism' etc. Personally I voted for Good Will Hunting, but would be happy to see DWW win.

Aaron Barlow

Love Good Will Hunting but this is a murderers row of movies. Sheesh.

justDRK

C'mon GOOD WILL HUNTING, it's a masterpiece that everyone needs to see.

Aaron Barlow

FARGO, NATURAL BORN KILLERS, and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN are all great. FARGO is the masterpiece though.

Robert Boyd

All really great films, but would love to see the Pianist make it on the channel someday. Really dark, but love Adrien Brody in it. Also, Dances With Wolves is a fantastic Kevin Costner film. Love most of these in the poll. Don't think I've seen Momento before and haven't seen Fargo, even though I know it is an iconic film. Feel like the Pianist won't ever win a poll because it's a bit more obscure. Given that it deals with World War 2 and the Holocaust, many people won't want to watch it because it shows the dark side of humans, and many people aren't comfortable watching a film that covers something as sensitive as the Holocaust.

Forrest

At least it's not tied for dead last like a couple I voted for

mikethemotormouth

aside fr dances with the wolves, I have no interest in any of those other movies, please react to al Pacino Scarface, Carlitos way, Donnie brasco or Irishman 🤷

dieselbeast

it's a really tough decision with so many great movies listed here… Especially between the usual suspects and dancing with wolves

Terry Lee

Can't tell if I like this structure better or worse because right now I want to vote for EVERY ONE of these options. Might have to try it out a few times.

mikethemotormouth

It is a travesty dances with wolves isn't winning, must have alot of young "woke"followers

dieselbeast

FARGO, dontcha know! :)

Philip Alan
