It was great to watch it with you. I started getting really frustrated with the show on the first watch because the bad guys kept getting ahead of them in ways I didn't see how they could learn things. But then Picard is a plant and every time they let him know something, the bad guys were one step ahead of them so it made the rewatch better.

I had watched the series some time before, so I was glad to rewatch it with you. I just picked up the book from my local library yesterday, I've been on a waiting list for over a month. Maybe future entries in the series won't have such a long wait. Thanks for watching such a great series.

I think this series has a chance to be stellar and only improve as it goes on based on how well they executed season one. The end scene you touched on with Joe and Reacher seeing their mother was a plot thread from a different book, and as you stated, it was the last time they were all together before Joe's death. An interesting change from the book: In the books Reacher is a bit older (because the books were written in the late 90s-present), so Childs did something pretty cool with the mother that they couldn't do on the show. Originally the medal wasn't his grandfather's, but actually his mother's. She received it for being in the French Resistance as a child/teen in WW2. And it was something she hid from her boys, they didn't discover her role until she passed and her old resistance members came to her funeral and awarded her a medal. Obviously they couldn't have that storyline work in the show because Reacher's mom would have been way too young, so I thought it was a nice touch how they still worked it in. Though, Reacher's mother being such a secret badass herself was something I missed because it really helps define Reacher and Joe's nature. So what's next? I know they're writing season 2 now - if not shooting it already - but I don't know which book they'll run with next for the plot. If they are going to go in book order, the second book brings in A LOT of Reacher's military past to light (and imo is a better book than the first), so it should be a banger of a season. And TBR's line near the end with Reacher walking out of the warehouse was perfect: "I don't care if it's cheesy". That sums up a lot of the fun of Reacher - sometimes cheesy, but always badass and fun.

2022-04-30 20:27:31 +0000 UTCA couple suggestions for shows that I think would make for entertaining reactions: Westworld or Twin Peaks. Season 1 only though in each case as future seasons had significant drops in quality.

It starts off in the middle ages/Tudor error and the second series is Elizabethan error with descendants of the season 1 characters, third season is 18th century and fourth is WW1. You enjoyed Monty Python, this is not as random and zany but comedy gold. The star is Rowan Atkinson who played Mr Bean.
