Cobra Kai Season 2 Episode 6 'Take A Right' Full TV Reaction!!

Cobra Kai Season 2 Episode 6 'Take A Right' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

Is episodes 7 & 8 not up yet?

TimTakDoh

That might be part of it, but I think it's more of a "group mentality" and it's someone who's is supposed to be a friend dealing a harmful blow to the group. It is a betrayal. I mean first of all Demetri takes the Cobra Kai credit every chance he gets to talk to girls and has the gall to dictate to Kreese just how he will and will not train and what he will and will not do, it's just ridiculous. When Hawk gained all the confidence he got and became Cobra Kai, and then you got Demetri complaining because he got hit by Kreese but I mean if you go and grab someone's arm and start dissing their tattoo.. It may have been illegal and also beating on someone weaker than you for Kreese to ostensibly punch Demetri in the face, but that is also something that you're gonna expect to happen if you go up to a mean tough guy and grab his arm and start dissing his tattoos. That's just a no brainer. You're gonna get your ass kicked. The problem is that Hawk drastically did a 180 from the weak kid who's always bulllied to the alpha guy but Demetri is still exactly the same. And Demetri's weakness is an annoyance. Demetri not only sought every attempt to attack Hawk's persona but he's constantly whining and complaining about what he had to do in Cobra Kai. He mocks Johnny in the class acting like Johnny's stupid for asking "How are you gonna deal with an elbow to the face?" "Ummmmm.... by calling the police?" This makes for some great comedy in a TV show sure but OMG Demetri would be an insufferable person for any athlete to be around in real life. And I'm just talking about an athlete, I'm not talking about a bad dude who will knock someone's head off. Hawk started being a dick when he went after Demetri in the mall. That was like the first thing that Hawk really did that was wrong IMO. Everything else was fine. I think the reality that needs to be realized by folks is that people are who they are for better or worse, and Demetri may be a major wuss, but he's a human being who has feelings and so just leave the kid alone. But I think the presence of conflict shows caring. Like if Hawk didn't care about Demetri he wouldn't be saying "Why do you have to be a bitch?" etc. he would just ditch him and not say anything about it. Whenever someone argues with someone about their behavior it's because they care. Hawk can't stand that his friend isn't on board with his newfound identity and won't stop being a whiny wuss, and Demetri can't stand that Hawk has become this alpha jerk.

Alex

I don't make any excuses for Hawk's behavior that's really bad but there's just some things that aren't bad at all. Like some of the stuff he says early on in the season or the way he acts confident is not a bad thing. He doesn't turn into an asshole until he turns into an asshole. But I can see what they're saying about Demetri constantly saying he knows who Hawk really is, and like when Demetri just won't stop harping "It's Eli Moscowitz!!!" ... I've mentioned before how I can't stand it when people do that. It's like almost an obsession with some people to out peoples' real name or something if they use a pseudonym or something. I used to know this guy who always had it in for me and I was using the name Sky Parker at the time as one of my pseudonyms (I'm a huge fan of Aphex Twin and if anyone knows he has like tons of pseudonyms he releases music under) and the guy would always rail me online and say stuff like "He calls himself Sky Parker even though his real name is blah blah blah." This was back when were more open about using their real names online I think now people probably are a bit more well some people are more anonymous due to the nasties out there on the Internet. But like it baffles me what is the point with that. There is one thing Demetri does which I can totally say is justified but I can't say what it is because it's a spoiler. But I do think Hawk deserved that 100%. I just have personal experience and I've also seen it in many different scenarios how people will just go to the opposite extreme when they free themselves of something whether it be an outcast/person with no confidence or a controlling boyfriend. The person often will just go way too far in the other direction, and it takes a lot for them to reign themselves in and realize they've gone too far.

Alex

Hawk is a great character and Jacob Bertrand does such a good job acting. I think so many people like Hawk because he has some of the lowest lows and highest highs.

Stephen King

Appreciate the early drop, two great episodes. Loved seeing Johnny with his old teammates again

Ken Veader

I love seeing you guys react to this series. Personally one of my favorite shows I’ve seen and love to watch reactions to in the past few years and it’s not even close. I’d love to see you guys do 4 episodes a week going forward like you did this past week(as I’m sure everyone would lol)

TimTakDoh

Best character in this show by farrrr, well, other than Johnny.

Reese

Something I think can be easy to forget when seeing how drastically Eli turn things up with Demetri is that, because he's tied so much of his "Hawk" self-confidence and sense of worth into cobra kai, a part of him feels personally attacked by his best friend when Demetri leaves the negative yelp review. Obviously that's not okay at all and never excuses any of the bullying Hawk does, but I feel it does lend explanation in the severe escalation that occurs afterwards. Also, I feel that expectations of a redemption or some big turn-around simply because a character is so well-beloved is a bit unfair to the character arc of Hawk. We all love watching characters such as Hans Gruber in Die Hard, or Cigarette Smoking Man in X-Files, often because of how they are as villains, even if they have moments or instances of charm and likability.

We haven't seen Russian Doll! We'll have to look into it :) -Sam

Haha!

Its way too hard to rank characters having all the series knowledge so far.

I think I'm one of the few people whose favorite character list doesn't include Hawk in the top 5. But I completely understand where you're coming from about him. Having been around the Fandom for a few years now, it's amazing the excuses people will make for Hawks behavior. The one that really bothers me is when they say Demetri brought it on himself. By being annoying. Or when he's always telling Hawk he knows who he really is. Its baffling how I've seen some react to his storyline with Demetri. I won't say anything beyond I didn't like Hawk for the majority of this series. Like yall said, he turned into the thing he hated. Which I understand his desperation to shed his old persona, but to turn into the asshole? 🙄🙄🙄 Episode 6 is my favorite of this season. It's just too bad Johnny is still blinded by Kreese's bullshit and can't see his friends have a point.

Donna Castellano

I agree with your point about Tory, Alexander. Whenever I listen to her tell that story about her mom getting fired, I'm always muttering, "Yeah, it's going in the trash, but it's still technically stealing, therefore, illegal.". I feel for Tory's situation, but there are all kinds of programs and places her mother could've gone to get help. And I'm not saying government assistance, either, tho that very much could've been an option. And thats a character point with Tory that made me dislike her for so long. Yeah, not everyone has everything they need, but so many people are willing to help if you just ask. If anything, she should've gravitated towards the lesson that Cobra Kai is a collective. Kreese's lesson essentially stating they're all in it together. I won't go further than that since it gets into spoilers, but yeah.

Donna Castellano

Wow this is an amazing story. I'm glad you got to reconcile with him. There are times we never get to reconcile with people. Some people hold grudges. I've had exactly two people in my life who have, for whatever reason, reacted in an extremely crazy way to something that happened between us. The first one I dunno the reason, the second was due to PTSD from previous trauma. I've tried so many times to reconcile with this person to no avail. Like this is the only person on this planet that I've felt like I truly connected with, and I still love her to this day. A year ago or so I found out through a mutual acquaintance that she's still traumatized over what happened even though we haven't had contact since early 2019. When I was telling him about the situation and what happened I started crying. Thank God it was like messaging online on Discord. But there's just no reconciliation and probably won't ever be. And the day my mom died she never told me she was sick. Apparently she knew she had cancer for a few months. She never told anyone. She told me was having an operation in the hospital and wanted me to come. I was always freaked out when it comes to work or leaving work. I dunno why I wasn't exactly afraid it was just like.. I can't leave work kind of thing? And I kinda freaked out and told her that I couldn't leave work that long for lunch.. I don't even know why I didn't realize that I just tell them my mom's in the hospital and it would not be a problem. I dunno why I didn't realize that. But around dinner time I was talking to a friend in the cafeteria on campus, and I got a call from a family member who I hardly ever talk to saying I need to come down to the hospital and she was already gone by the time I got there. I learned the hard way it's so important to talk to people and reconcile with them, while you still have a chance. I always learn everything the hard way, so.. Really happy you got to reconcile with this guy and not only mend things but realize the change he had made in his life. So often we miss things or assume things or have misunderstandings and never discover what's really going on thanks to stuff like what happens in the show-- a lack of communication. If only my friend was a fly on the wall eavesdropping on this conversation she would understand. Sometimes even communicating honestly won't get things across to people. This turned into a pretty heavy conversation. Heh.

Alex

Happy pre-birthday :)

Alex

The problem is Tory has that "victim mentality" version of it. Instead of realizing that EVERYONE has to fight for what they want, she thinks it's only her and others like her, and so since other people just have things why can't she just take them and screw other people over. Most people don't see the constant failure people endure over and over again until they're successful. But people like her see it as a personal attack that they have to work hard for what they have or they have to work harder than other people. And the world is the attacker. And sadly until they change their thinking and have a "victor mentality," things aren't going to change for them.

Alex

It is really amazing how it's all the original actors. It is truly mind blowing. Truly a labor of love. And yeah I didn't know that. It's really sad.

Alex

Two more episodes?? My birthday isn't til the end of next month. I'll take it lol.

Donna Castellano

It's hard not to see Tory's side, because you do have to fight for anything you want in the world, but what they need is someone to teach them the proper way to fight for it, and that person is not John Kreese.

Vwlss Nvwls

Rob Garrison (Tommy) actually did die of cancer in real life shortly after this episode aired. I love how this show gets the original actors for these characters, but it had to have been hard for him to film this if his cancer was so bad he died soon after. RIP Rob Garrison.

Vwlss Nvwls

The tension is mounting in Season 2 to the inevitable buildup towards the end of the season. I truly can't wait to see your reaction to the finale. The good news is that you won't have to wait a whole year to see the next season. You can literally just click on it within seconds. :) Season 3 is probably my favorite season although 4 is very close behind it.

Jeff Mills

Holy Schmitt! Thank you! I got the notification today and was like, "Is this an early April Fools Joke? C'mon!" Nope. THANK YOU.

Jeff Mills

I had no idea that Rob Garrison who played Tommy was dying of cancer at the time of filming. I'm sure that he probably suggested that ending or the writers did with his permission and he probably said, "go with it".

Jeff Mills

I went to high school with a guy who was a good kid in 9th grade, but in 10th grade he dyed his hair, started smoking, and hanging out with the wrong crowd. Simply put, he turned into an asshole. We were friends, not best friends, but we got along, but he turned into a real jerk. One time he tried flicking a cigarette at me and when I flinched he laughed and yelled, 'Putz!" He was like this the rest of high school and even after high school he came into my store where I worked with his girlfriend at the time and was talking trash about me. I didn't see him again or talk to him again until many years later (2009) when I found him on Facebook. Many years had passed, but I was still angry and always wanted to know why he treated me like that. So I messaged him on Facebook and I didn't hold back, sending him a lengthy message (4 pages). I didn't hear anything back from him for a couple of days and I figured he probably won't respond or he'll say something rude like "who cares? Get over it." Much to my surprise, he wrote me back an even longer message and told me he showed my message to his wife (not the girlfriend he dated before) and she started crying. He told me that she couldn't believe that he could be this guy and he apologized profusely several times in his message. He told me that not long after I had seen him with his girlfriend that they were both in a car accident which nearly killed him. He suffered permanent brain damage from the accident and it wiped out almost all of his long-term memory. He barely could remember who I was and he kept apologizing. It was a genuine, sincere, remorseful apology which I accepted and I told him, "let's start over." We slowly began to repair our friendship and he was definitely a changed man. I told him about the guys he used to hang out with whom he couldn't remember and he told me, "I would never hang out with those guys now." He had a lot of problems mentally and psychologically although his wife and kids adored him. He wanted to come here to Charleston, SC where I live and meet me face-to-face to make the peace and shake hands as we both wanted to do. And, he wanted me to meet his family. We both wanted to do that. This was in early 2010. At the time, I was going through a painful breakup with a girlfriend which really knocked me for a loop and consumed a lot of my time. I told my friend that if he ever needed me for anything to call or text me because he was going through some tough times. I hadn't heard from him so I messaged him, nothing. Then, I went online and saw an obituary for him where he had died. It really was a punch to the gut. To this day, I don't know how he died and I don't want to speculate out of respect for his family. All I know is that I am so glad and grateful that we both made peace with each other before he died and we became friends again. He truly was sorry for his behavior in the past and one of the most poignant things he told me when I had mentioned his past behavior was that maybe it was karma that he got in that accident. I told him, "I don't know, but I'm truly sorry that happened to you. However, if there's anything positive that came from the experience it made you a better person." I've had worse bullies than him. I could tell stories about this one guy who was like a mini-Charles Manson. Real scary guy. But my friend, Kerry, was a good dude who got caught up in the wrong crowd for a few years. Deep down he was a good guy and I'm so grateful he turned himself around and became a loving father and husband, and friend to me again.

Jeff Mills

Is it my birthday?! No, so how did I get so lucky to get early early access to more Cobra Kai episodes?! Great surprise for after work. It’s hard to have a favorite character in the show even if just say for the younger cast. But a ranking might go Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Tori and Sam. Favorite and to least. The love for Hawk is real! Especially with the opening flashback of last episode. Even though being like the people that hurt you is wrong. It’s so understandable to me how such a thing could happen. Which is why I have a soft spot for Hawk despite him being a full blown Sith Lord lmao “Put him in a body bag! Yeah!” Gets LITERALLY put in a body bag! I still can’t believe they took that iconic line flipped it where they rip our hearts out for Tommy then put him in a body bag. S-Tier writing!

Jonathon Dragovan

Just a couple of notes: Season 1 takes place in the Spring of 2018. Season 2 is during the summer of 2018. Also it's rather poetic (and dark) that Tommy said "Get him a body bag" when episode 6 ends with him LITERALLY IN A BODY BAG.

EdmanXERO

Yeah when they reacted to Hawk saying "Have my boy Rico tattoo bitch on her ass or something" I was like whoa.. They're really in for it. They have no idea how bad it's gonna get. Hawk is totally a badass. Personal development is tricky, it's far too easy to go to the other extreme when developing yourself. I love Hawk because his development shows how someone can transform who they are. As they say "If you want to do something you've never done before, you have to become someone you've never been before." It's very easy to go too far though, because you almost have to cross that line in order to know where it is, and it's very easy to lose yourself along the way.

Alex

Based on what you are saying, you are gonna hate Hawk a lot more before you start to like him. I like Hawk because of character development. He is the one that is the most endoctrined, much like Dutch was. I still say he is a badass. Without saying too much, there is an episode where he asserts his dominance in the dojo, and it's such a strong scene.

Yann Laliberté

Yea I love both those shows. I think Reacher is probably the only show I've seen since Cobra Kai that I enjoy as much as Cobra Kai.. The show sets the bar pretty high.

Alex

I love TBR’s comments about Hawk. lol I was gonna say ya gotta understand most of us have seen the whole series and then when he’s like “Hawk must do something absolutely amazing in a future season” LOLOLOL so funny The Hawk thing isn’t Kreese. Unfortunately this is something that happens a lot is generally people who are at one extreme tend to go to the opposite extreme and it’s incredibly difficult for them to balance out. It happens in a lot of different situations-- they spend a large portion of their life one way and so when they find a sense of freedom or what have you they tend to go buck wild. Yeah, Tommy was the one that said “Get him a body bag!” in Karate Kid 1, and the episode ended with him being zipped up in a body bag. Very sad but a very good callback to one of the best lines from the movie. Not to make it sadder but the actor actually also passed away as well. You guys have all my hugs. So yeah but Kreese just hijacked Hawk right in the middle of that and so now Kreese is making Hawk waaay worse but Kreese didn’t cause it. Hawk has been already been going the path of being a bully because as I said before he’s terrified of his new image being destroyed. And the thing is that Johnny doesn’t see these kids 24/7 and so no one really realized what is happening to Hawk. The red Mohawk is symbolic. Also with Daniel being a Cobra Kai under Terry Silver and TBR was like it wasn’t Kreese, but you gotta realize they both created Cobra Kai, and so they both know Cobra Kai and The Way of the Fist. If you look back across all the episodes you’ll see that the methods that Terry taught Daniel and Kreese’s teachings are very similar. The incident that broke Miguel and Sam up kind of mirrors when Daniel punched that guy at the club in Karate Kid 3. and the last thing I have to say is it’s okay to think Kreese gives good advice sometimes and still hate him :) He does give some good advice I mean when he said “So you only teach these lessons. You don’t really live by them.” You also saw this in Johnny when Miguel had to talk him into fighting to get Cobra Kai allowed in the All Valley.

Alex

That was great guys especially Sam's reaction to the ear thing ouchy lol , seeing Tory kick training reminded me how they all legit train hard for this show the actress who plays Sam got injured during filming and on her YouTube channel has a video of her recovery and the building up strength in her legs and building slowly back up to full on kicks again 👌 it really is great the effort they all put in and it looks great on screen , cheers for the wonderful surprise guys very enjoyable reactions and outro as always . Totally random but if by any chance you have watched russian doll season 2 is out April 20th yay let the bonkers continue

Ian

It's 10 episodes, 30min each. It's hilarious and adorable. There will possibly be a second season (at the moment it is the most in demand breakout series on all streaming services) but the first season so far was incredible. 👍🏻

Domino

Cobra Kai is one of the best shows in recent years. Looking forward to see how you react to the rest of season 2 and your thoughts at the end.

Alex

I don't really watch a lot of TV and you've already watched one of my favorite shows (Chernobyl) so I'm here to throw in my other suggestion, my new favorite show Our Flag Means Death on HBO Max! 🥰

Domino

Well I only really have one thing to say to the Schmitts "Shut the fuck up and take my money"!!!! 💰 #BestReactionChannelOnTheInternet
