I just meant like how he talks. Not being a bully or anything. I don't remember who it is. A couple friends I met were Jamaican Chinese, I went over their house to spend the night.
I was exposed to the legendary Street Fighter 2 in that house that night. They wiped the floor with me. I ended up playing all night and the next morning I beat them and he was like "How'd he get so good with Chun Li?" lol

I agree. "Cobra Kai" does a fantastic job of taking these characters and giving them not just new life, but a life, as the show progresses. When Martin Kove was asked to come back for the series, he asked the producers, "Is Kreese going to be a good guy or bad guy?" They said, "He's going to be a little good, but he's going to be a little bad, too". LOL

I wen to high school with a guy who acted and looked a bit like Kyler. The guy was a real a-hole. The actor who plays Kyler seems like a great guy IRL. He does charity work for autism and if you see him in interviews, he's nothing like Kyler.

I don't think Kreese wanted Johnny to see him as a failure. I don't think he was leading him to his living situation, and was truly embarrassed when Johnny found out the truth.

@Alexander yeah it was Tory. I can't say anything here about why my position changed on her after the most recent season, but all I can say is, for me, that came a season too late.

Zabka's performance has been the real standout for me regarding this show. Obviously, this show exists because of the Karate Kid films, which was Daniel's story. But, in my opinion, you take Zabka out of this show and it doesn't gain the audience that it has.
Regarding the Kreese story: I don't think it was his intention for Johnny to discover he was living at the shelter, and I don't think his aim was to manipulate Johnny (at least in that sequence). There is a tragedy to anyone's life going in the toilet due to their own actions. Johnny's right when he says everyone deserves a second chance. One of the best things about this show is that it takes characters that were one-dimensional at best in the films and gives them nuance. Most of the characters in this show can't be pigeon-holed, and your feelings about a character one season may flip the next. There's one character in particular from the films that I can't discuss here due to spoilers, but how the writers handle the character is one of my favorite decisions in this show.

It's a Thriller. Probably her next big hit after Speed in the 90s. I know you guys don't like to know anything about the movies you watch so I won't tell you any more than that.

Actually Aisha told Miguel. Miguel was the one that told Johnny. Remember Johnny said what and Miguel said "Aisha just told us that Miyago-Do is planning a demonstration at Valley Fest."
I can't remember exactly what I was gonna say, but just clicked with me this time that the misunderstanding between Sam and Tory where Sam thought Tory stole her mom's wallet because of what she said is a mirror of Daniel and Johnny but something about that doesn't sound right so I'm not sure if that's what I meant.. I can't remember.
Donna you mentioned before there was a character you really hated that is yet to be introduced. Is Tory who you were talking about? Or was it Kreese? Now I can't remember which one I thought you were talking about.

Agreed on Tory. Honestly, I don't think it was such an illogical leap for Sam to suspect Tory of stealing the wallet either. And I think the deal with Aisha is more about believing she's helping her friend by discouraging her from Cobra Kai. That's what the discussion was about. Plus, it's kind of shitty Aisha told Johnny about Daniel's plan to do a thing at Valley Fest. Aisha has shown that no matter where her relationship with Sam is, Cobra Kai comes first.

Also, I think cost was a major factor when it jumped from YouTube Red to Netflix. Having started this show when it first ran on YTR, I noticed how different the feel was when Netflix picked it up. Not just in better looking but the number of locations increased by almost 10 fold. We don't go a lot of places in S1 and 2.

Yeah for me it's the ep where we get some new old faces. That's my favorite episode of S2. In a season that I always FF thru most eps when I rewatch the series.

Yeah I mean nobody's perfect. This may allude into into future episodes but not really a spoiler because you can already see Demetri is like this.. but I can relate to Demetri in being the guy that is not at all athletic to the EXTREME to the point where your coaches don't even have a frame of reference really to understand your situation.
Lots of times coaches/trainers tend to just assume people like Demetri or my past self aren't trying when we're just not as athletic as normal kids.
I know what you mean too.
The only one that reminds me of anyone I went to school with is Kyler coz the way he talks. lol. He has this "dialect" which I remember a lot of kids I knew back then talked like that.
And I also love how like he just doesn't care. Like they get out at the river or whatever at the party and Yasmin is insulting his driving and he's like "Whatever Dawg." and doesn't even care. That's a good example of how to roll with the punches and not get too serious about stuff.

Demetri certainly has a lot to learn about etiquette, but he's one of my favorite characters.

Demetri reminds me of a few guys I went to high school with that were the misfits and nerds like myself, but sometimes they could be real pains in the ass mouthing off to others. Yet you loved those guys and if they were in trouble you'd be the first one there for them.

The episodes got longer in Season 3. I think moving to Netflix probably had something to do with that along with a higher demand from audiences to have longer episodes.

That moment with the fisherman on the beach always gets to me. I had a moment like that a few months after my grandfather died of cancer in 2001. I was in Sam's and saw an old man who from the back looked just like my grandfather. I walked over to him and he turned around and I knew it wasn't him. Couldn't stay in the store after that. Walked out in tears and didn't want anyone to notice.

I think Episodes 5-6 of season 2 are better than 1-4. But every season ends up great, so even some episodes that seem short or slower, serve a purpose to the fuel the rest of the season.

Man this has been well worth the subscription! I love this show, it’s hard to have favorite seasons. But season two and four have most of my favorite moments. This season you are on especially. This season just sinks it’s claws into you so that way you have to keep coming for more!

Yeah even Daniel was like "May I help you?" when he just walks into the place and starts asking personal questions about the stuff in his backyard lol

I had forgotten about that comment. These episodes are way too short. I never realized how short they were coz I just always binged the season/series.
I think both these episodes were great but I wouldn't say the high point of the season. It depends also what context that is, in the context of fight scenes etc. it definitely is not. In the context of "satisfying moments" also not.

It was a reasonable assumption on Sam's part. Obviously Tory doesn't have any morals at least most morals, because she thinks it's okay to steal vodka from the Beach Club and then said you could steal all the silverware and they wouldn't notice.
Given the information that Sam had it was a reasonable assumption. I mean Sam doesn't know about Robby's old "buddies" and the stuff that happened, but this just goes into the theme of "misunderstandings."
And TBR said something about Tory that I'm not gonna comment on right now but in the future I will definitely come back to it.
And I wonder did you guys catch that her introducing herself as "Tory, with a y" is a callback to "Ali with an i," in Karate Kid 1.
I didn't think that Kreese planned everything from having Johnny overhear phone call to following him. That's entirely possible that he orchestrated that whole thing.
I'm surprised you guys didn't say anything about Demetri just grabbing Kreese's arm.. Like whoa dude.. You don't do that to someone like Kreese dude, or anyone really.. lol
And you can kind of see Hawk starting to go in the wrong direction. I'm not gonna defend Hawk but you gotta admit Demetri is a major whiner and he's basically just pretending to be in Cobra Kai whenever girls come around and stuff. Hawk's reaction to him isn't completely unwarranted I mean he goes into a karate dojo dictating to the sensei what he is willing to do and not do and that all the other students are just gonna have to "get over it." I mean karate involves getting punched and kicked it's part of what it is.
So now you see Kreese is starting to get his hooks into Hawk. You don't see it on camera but you see it in Hawk's behavior and it's part of Miguel's concern about Kreese.
I think that off camera Kreese has already started to manipulate the students.

Surprised people say that s2ep4 is a highlight. It’s actually an overall series lowlight for me! They were still finding their way with action and editing, etc at this point. Some good scenes, but ultimately one of the poorest episodes in my opinion!

Demetri says that he has a thing about personal space. He immediately walks up and grabs dudes arm. Seems like he doesn't care about other peoples personal space.
