I really like how this series is setting up. I'm just getting caught up with what TBR and Sam are watching, and I've never seen this series before. But it seems to me there could be an opposites set up here, where Johnny is the mentor to Miguel, where Miguel is actually like Daniel, and Johnny is teaching him to attack with karate and Miguel just needs to learn defense. It would be great if Daniel starts acting like a mentor to Kyler and teaches him karate, where he would start by teaching him defense, but Kyler is actually a bully and would more appreciate Johnny's method of teaching. I don't know if this is where the series is going, but I could see that dynamic playing out. It could be great, or I could totally be wrong. We'll see!

And I cannot over-emphasize how surprised I was by the premise(s) of the show... what a FANTASTIC set of ideas they had. Can't wait for the next one! :)

2022-02-16 18:28:10 +0000 UTCI like Kyler coz he reminds me of some kids growing up. Not being a bully or anything like that.. Just the way he talks.. You get to see a little of it here when he says "Gotta cut weight for the meet!" I dunno if he meant to make his character talk like an 80s kid, or if kids still talk that way now. But it feels like a lot of us talked like that when I was growing up. It's kind of how he doesn't enunciate the last syllable like when he says "Gotta cut weight for the meet!" like the last word the pitch goes up and it's like very strong ending to the sentence.

You talked about her physical characteristics and behavior as a wife, but my comment was referrring to her as a mother. I’m a woman, so I’m not concerned about how beautiful she is, lol, but some of the choices she makes as a mother rub me the wrong way. That’s my point.

2022-02-16 02:39:11 +0000 UTCAimee, I totally agree with you that Daniel was in the right about the pool party, but Amanda is really beautiful and from a man's perspective Daniel won as far as landing a great wife. I don't like some of the things she does and some of the way she acts towards Daniel sometimes.. Can't really talk about because like this episode 1 and it would spoil things. It's a shame we can't talk about it coz it would be interesting to hear more about what exactly you don't like about her. Duncan, as I said above I don't agree that she is perfect but Daniel definitely won the game of life in the wife department. We can't really talk about details but most of the things she does that I am not crazy, it's kind of like that saying "happy wife, happy life."

They were assholes about it and started to shove Johnny around, and they were also natural athletes. Being able to actually attack an adult and get a submission on him for a couple seconds.. It's kind of like the same thing about like "don't hit a girl" .. Well that works until the girl comes at you like Kung Fu Master than that's a whole different story. Strong and able to fight / trained it's fair game then.

I mean I was like this isn't how you should raise a kid just letting him live with electronics but I wasn't that hardcore about it.. lol I say nothing... 🤐 but it's funny how TBR is Sherlock again, I can't remember what he said? and then the guy on the show said the same exact thing? I forget what it was. So TBR = Daniel? That's so funny coz obviously I knew Samantha and I had already thought that both of you are Samantha but Daniel and Samantha, that's pretty cool. Oh one thing I did wanna tell you is there's tons of Easter eggs in the entire series. Not just with Karate Kid either, think of it kind of like Last Action Hero in terms of Easter Eggs, so watch out for those. Like when Johnny was teaching and saying "Mercy is for the weak. We do not train to be merciful here, Is there a problem Mr. Diaz?" is mirroring when Kreese is saying the exact same words to Johnny in Karate Kid 1. And yes, Dimetri is hilarious (the kid that TBR loves)
