Nivellen actually charged Geralt for coming onto his property, they finally talk and come to terms. In the book Nivellen lives in the house alone, his father has been dead for sometime when you meet him. He was cursed for raping a priestess that his gang egged him to do, to become a man, after his father who had led the gang before had died. His head is supposed to look like a bear's head and his body is still human. Merchants would bring their daughters to him for a year of company in exchange for gold.

The character Nivellen, and the house he can control is from the book The Last Wish, a prequel to the main Witcher series of books. He should have been in season 1 since season 1 is based off the Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, but I'm glad they brought him in even though it's a season late. I highly recommend the books, since the series is based off the books and not the games. There are 8 books over all 5 in the main series, and 3 that are stand alone or prequels.

Bruxa are a medium level vampire. In Witcher 3 they were pretty scary at lower levels and can move super fast, becoming almost invisible. They were usually attractive women in human form like the gorgeous Varina. High vampires are the toughest (while Unseen Elders are like trying to fight Lucifer himself) and TBR, if you haven't played the DLC 'Blood and wine' I highly recommend it, it's vampire oriented and an amazing story. I understand you haven't finished the main story but know you still have Witcher 3 awesomeness after you finished the main questline.

Remarkable similarity between the scorched battlefield at the beginning and a BLM peaceful protest aftermath.

We did not!! I only watched the last couple seasons, but Daniel watched the whole GOT series! -Sam

I missed it myself, but did y'all catch that Geralt's friend was played by Tormund, from GoT (assuming y'all have watched that)?
