Wednesday, we'll be watching our War Patreon Poll Winner, The Deer Hunter (1978)! Friday, we're continuing Dexter: New Blood! To finish out the week on Saturday, we're watching the highly recommended sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990)! As always, thank you for your continued support and movie recommendations!

But I feel there was some stuff that could have been trimmed, and we STILL would have had a slow build, and got to know the town, and the characters. Or maybe not! At the very least, I feel like it was essential for the actors to build those friendships. I just watched it a few weeks ago, and those were my thoughts; it could very well be I've just seen the movie that many times that you can lose the sense of pacing sometimes, do you know what I mean? I remember watching "The Godfather" once.....and the pacing was so off and weird to me, and like an arrow in my head, I knew I had seen it one too many times! I stayed away from it for at least a decade......and now it's back to being the same ole cute and cuddly Godfather! :D / Hey Neal, do you know a writer just wrote a book with De Niro's co-operation about the making of Deer Hunter? I just found this out! He also wrote an even more recent one about the making of Raging Bull - and that included Pesci's involvement as well. Next this writer (and De Niro) are doing on on Taxi Driver. I'll be picking The Deer Hunter one up very soon! If you've read it, let me know! If you haven't, I'll let YOU know when I'VE read it! :D Looking forward to Wednesday, huh?! We better keep our hankys closeby, though!

2021-12-06 11:00:58 +0000 UTCOh... If you're doing "Die Hard 2", then "Die Hard: With a Vengeance" (part 3) is a must. In my opinion, it's the best of the series. Maybe I'm biased, being a New Yorker, but I don't think I'm too far off.

2021-12-06 07:02:02 +0000 UTCChristopher Walken is incredible in Deer Hunter as is everyone else in the cast. Please check out The Boys in Company C, it’s a Vietnam movie from 1977 and has R. Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket playing a similar drill instructor.👍

The first third of "The Deer Hunter" I hope you didn't feel too "on the spot" to react and say stuff, wondering why we recommended this movie to you! :D It's a slow ride up the rollercoaster, and the older I get the more I think they could have lost twenty minutes off the first hour and we wouldn't have missed a thing, but man oh man, what a movie! De Niro does this, then Raging Bull the next year. King Of Comedy after that. Taxi Driver before Deer Hunter. Godfather 2 before that. This guy was just notching up classics left and right! Can't wait for Wednesday!
