Have you guys seen Scary Movie? After seeing this movie I totally get why they made fun of the Scream killer so much. It always seemed like he was getting thrown around like a rag doll lol.

Went ahead and watched the reaction again. So many laughs!
This movie isn't scary to me at all. I mean, I already know everything that happens in it.. but other movies that I know full well still can scare me. This one's just fun to watch!
It's good fun! :)

I stumbled upon this too. I hope you do the rest of the series, they're all really good! You could make it a Patreon exclusive if there's Youtube issues?

Since I became a Patreon member I knew I had to find this full length commentary. It’s sad to see there’s plans to react to Scream 2 and then it got ditched.

I think Wes Craven himself has a cameo as Fred, the janitor dressed like Freddy Krueger.

Oh wow! I can't imagine watching this as a 15 year old! It looks like it was definitely marketed to trick the audience into thinking that Drew Barrymore was the main character, but yes, brought me back to Psycho! Oh wow, that is a great cameo! I love that this movie cleverly references other horror films!

Is it just me or was Billy cast as a ‘young Johnny Depp?
Other Homages to Halloween I picked up were:
Billy’s last name Loomis is the same as Dr.Loomis(Donald Pleasance).
Casey’s dad telling her mother to go down to the “McKenzie’s house” is exactly what Laurie tells the kids to do in Halloween.

Now that you've started this amazing franchise you must continue on with the sequels! Awesome reaction, guys!
- As told by Drew Barrymore herself, the story goes, she was originally cast as Sidney. But weeks before they were to start shooting, she called them and changed her mind. She wanted to play Casey in the beginning. She had thought that it would be a great misdirect that because of her stardom no one would suspect she'd die right away. She also thought of the slasher genre's greatest misdirections in Psycho with the death of Marion, played by Janet Leigh (real mother of Jamie Lee Curtis). So in the end, Drew got her wish, Neve Campbell was cast and the rest is history!
- Rose McGowan who plays Tatum chose all of her own wardrobe. Her football crop top she wears was a tip of the hat to the one Johnny Depp wore in Nightmare On Elm St. Just before Tatum dies she cries out "Mom!". Rose's idea also. She contributed a lot to her character. Especially in her last scene.
- Movies Referenced that are a must see for you guys:
• Prom Night (Starring Jamie Lee Curtis)
• The Howling (starring Dee Wallace of E.T. & Cujo fame, and directed by Joe Dante the director of Gremlins)
• The Town That Dreaded Sundown [1976] (a fantastic slasher)
- Scream was the movie that quite literally revived the horror genre. Up until that point the genre was suffering and dying off. Until screenwriter Kevin Williamson was struggling to pay his bills and his rent, he didn't have a job. So the story goes he was house sitting for some friends and one night was watching some TV program about the real events of The Gainsville Murders; Kevin was watching the program and scaring himself when it inspired him to write Scream (which at that point was titled Scary Movie). He went away for Literally 3 days and wrote the entire feature length script for Scary Movie. As soon as he sent in the script, because it had such an original concept and voice at the time, it became the hottest script circulating Hollywood and everyone wanted to make it or audition for it.

Easily one of the best horror franchise where the sequels are actually strong, looking forward to January 14 for number 5.

The sequels are great too! With a lot of the same characters who survived! it was a unique clever idea to be based on all the classic scary movies! It was something fresh the new millennium!

Great reaction. Really enjoyed watching you guys take this one in. I'm so thrilled that you'd gotten through enough other horror material to enjoy the meta nature of this film.

This movie is so great. I saw it in the theater over Christmas break when I was barely 15. I still can’t believe they let me in to the theater. It scared the crap out of me, and was such an iconic film for my generation.
The beginning with Drew Barrymore was so shocking, not just because of the brutality but because, due to the movie poster, everyone assumed she was going to be the main character. It’s akin to the shock of Marion’s death in Psycho.
When I saw this as a teenager that first scene was terrifying because I could see myself in that position. Now, as a parent with a 15-year old daughter, it’s terrifying for a much different reason.
Some cool cameos—the reporter who confronts Sydney asking for a story while she’s getting out of the car and says “How does it feel to be almost brutally butchered? People deserve to know!” is Linda Blair, the little girl in The Exorcist.
This is also the movie where Courtney Cox and David Arquette met, and they were married for about 15 years before splitting up in 2012.
As soon as Sam screamed when the chair came through Drew Barrymore’s patio window I knew this was going to be a great reaction. 😉
Wes Craven was a brilliant horror/slasher director. Rest In Peace.
