Yeah there are so many hidden details, that is why the replay is so good for this series you miss so much in the first few viewings!

Such a great episode. Something I never noticed before is how when Liv comes out of the room at 41:30 one of the statues has turned around to look at her. So many little details i never noticed the first time I watched it.

I never understood the button thing and only put it together, if it's even correct, during this watch through you two. Hurray, us!

We didn't put the connection together with her button collection! Totally forgot about that. Oh wow! We missed that too and you're the first comment I've seen to mention that about the books. SO good!

Insane cinematography! I can't imagine the amount of work that went into staging these scenes! Episode 6 definitely hit me hard, but they've all been masterpieces.

The buttons on Nell's eyes. In a previous episode Luke asks her if she still collect buttons and, with how she was 'unseen' by the fmaily, even as a kid, I feel like it was her reaching out to let them know she was there.
And the wheelchair kid? Paraphrasing but the mom had a line about placing books low on a shelf so they can be reached during one of her color storms or dreams and the dad said something like 'that's very specific'. That part was about that kid.
Sorry if you guys already mentioned these in your full reaction. I watched the reaction version this time on my work break., And, yeah, this episode is one of thhe greatest pieces of art I've ever seen.

The first cut actually happened right after the chandelier fell and went to older Hugh's reaction.
It still blows my mind how few amount of cuts there are in this episode, the longest take running at a staggering 17 minutes; but it honestly felt like it all happened in real time. Which is a testament to not only the whole crew but both the older and younger cast. To have so many marks to hit and dialogue to say on said marks without messing up, otherwise they'd have to start from the beginning. Ugh. Such consummate professionals.
The performances were all stellar. All of them. Whether the performances were dialogue heavy or just a few scattered lines through. They all brought it.
Truth be told I loved all the episodes, however, episodes 5 & 6 just hit me the hardest on such a personal level.

I’m pretty sure you can find a YouTube on the making of this episode. They actors pretty much treated it like it was a play. All of the are so great. I don’t know if it’s been pointed out or not but the actress who plays Theo s Mike Flanagan’s wife. And, well, so much more to come! I can’t wait.

One of the best episodes in television history. The editing, directing, cinematography, and acting were all superb. Just a masterclass in filmmaking
