Totally looney! We just finished the last episode and I'm all the more frustrated with him!
Oh interesting! He was up there with my least liked marine portrayed in this show.

Thank you for sharing!! We just finished the final episode in real time and we were thinking the same in regards to the heroics shown in other series versus the realness of this one.

Captain America is fucking batshit crazy. The fact that he has some rationalizations for it just makes him all the more scary, to me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that this ISN'T fiction... I don't know who's scarier: the Iraqis or "command" :S
And the little guy who is always buzzing around Encino Man is referred to as Casey Kasem by the marines :)

there is very much a kind of cynicism to the Marine Corps that permeates every man on the ground. right before the invasion my buddy Santana turned to me with a knowing smile and said "we are going to invade this country and the weapons inspectors didn't find shit." A lot of modern Marine Corps media paints a cynical portrait of actions. Media like Full Metal Jacket, Jarhead, The Pacific, and Generation Kill, captures in a dramatized fashion the idea of a Marine in war. its good that these films/shows capture the cynicism that very much exists in the corps. Media about other branches might be able couch actions in heroics, but Marines (at least in my day), are told that we are there to break things and its the armies job to fix it. My point is, its a very cynical branch of Americas armed forces.
