You haven't seen "Tucker"? It's another Coppola movie. George Lucas produced and Coppola directed it. Lucas and Coppola idolized Tucker as kids. They made that movie like engineers. They put as many visual tricks into the movie as possible while trying to be very efficient with their budget. It's also more cheerful and hopeful than "The Godfather" movies and "Apocalypse Now". The writing is loaded and on the same level as "The Godfather" movies and "Apocalypse Now".

I think the Departed won our last poll! Unfortunately, we have seen Wolf of Wall Street so we wouldn't be able to do a first time reaction!

I like how as an audience we’re rooting for Nicky to get his, then it starts happening and we feel bad for him.

I haven't been to Las Vegas in 20 years. But yes they still have parts of older Vegas still around. Like the Pink Flamingo . I believe it's there in case people want a more classic version of Las Vegas. Yes the mob did run Vegas. They have had a big attachment to Vegas as far back as Bugsey Segal . Obviously as you saw they didn't do a very good job.

She is SO GOOD in both films. Honestly, it's a bit nuts.

"Come on Anthony, don't make me be a bad guy."
Compared to Goodfellas, there is quite a bit of comedy in this one. I think that's why I find it more rewatchable than I do Goodfellas. Regardless, this line, in particular - when he's got Tony D's head in a vice and is asking for the names of his accomplices, after sticking ice picks in his balls for 2 days/nights - always stands out to me. He says it so genuinely and earnestly! Now that's how I like my juxtapositions :)

Fun fact: The white haired lady in the grocery store is actually Martin Scorsese's mother, she was also in Goodfellas

By far my favorite too. The acting, editing, music, setting, and plot are all much better.

Im hoping The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street are next. It would conclude the "Scorsese movies featuring badass narration" trend.

I actually like this more than Goodfellas.

This is my favorite Scorsese movie. I hope you react to a series of classics with an engineering theme. "Ford vs. Ferrari", "Tucker", and "The Right Stuff" are the most obvious.
