2021-07-01 15:44:03 +0000 UTCBeing in the punk/DIY scene I was aware of her because of Suburbia & the Decline series, and then was surprised to see she was responsible for some of the more mainstream comedies from my childhood, Γ la Wayneβs World. Iβll have to check that film out tho, I hadnβt heard of it until now. So, thanks ππΌπ

2021-07-01 02:45:41 +0000 UTCSuburbia was great. I had never seen it until I bought the Shout Factory disc from their Roger Corman Cult Classics Collection a few years back. I bought it trying to complete that collection and because I was aware of Spheeris being a quality director. I was surprised at just how good it was. Another of her films that would be worth a watch is The Boys Next Door with Charlie Sheen. That was another blind buy disc I bought (this one from Severin Films) that I was really happy with. Lots of great special features on these discs too.

2021-06-30 08:07:58 +0000 UTCAnd Parenthood. So many good ones.

2021-06-28 13:13:45 +0000 UTCAnd Bowfinger! I completely forgot about Bowfinger.

2021-06-28 13:13:19 +0000 UTCTwo classics. I always just assume that everyone must have already seen them.

2021-06-28 13:11:25 +0000 UTCI've got to vote for my gurl Penelope Spheeris' film. If you ever do a poll for documentaries, I'll be the first to vote for all three of the Decline Of Western Civilization films! Or even Suburbia in a Drama poll.

2021-06-27 02:08:11 +0000 UTCOh Office Space, definitely. Soooo many great lines! Galaxy Quest is fun, but it only makes me want to watch the nonexistent Rated R version. LOL

2021-06-26 07:33:14 +0000 UTCSteve Martin was great in all of those movies. I'd love to see videos on any or all of them.

2021-06-24 18:30:54 +0000 UTCI'm still pushing for the Steve Martin classics: The Jerk, The Man With Two Brains, Roxanne, LA Story

2021-06-24 11:57:57 +0000 UTCAfter just hearing Sam say that all these dark films are starting to take their toll, I'll be trying to think of more comedies to suggest. At the moment, all I can think of is: Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). It's so much fun!

2021-06-23 10:23:57 +0000 UTCI love both Galaxy Quest and Office Space. :-)

2021-06-22 16:23:24 +0000 UTCOffice Space baby. It get no better. Oh wait, "Tropic Thunder" is on this list. DAMN. Can I choose 2 movies to vote on. Such a good list.

2021-06-22 12:52:01 +0000 UTCRisky Business is more of a coming of age film than a comedy, but itβs still really good, Tom Cruiseβs breakout film. Another 100% comedy that you definitely need to check out is Liar Liar. Jim Carreyβs finest.

2021-06-22 11:48:06 +0000 UTCIβm a fan of the current leaders but the question might be asked of TBR: since both of you havenβt seen much of Star Trek, how much did he enjoy the movie? It pokes fun of the franchise as well as its fan base. Tropic Thunder will definitely yield the bigger payoff given the war movies youβve seen. Their both great youβll have some fun either way.

2021-06-22 06:49:58 +0000 UTCOther comedies for future consideration: Fletch (1985), Caddyshack (1980), The Jerk (1979), Annie Hall (1977) [I know Woody Allen has become a controversial figure in recent years, but this is simply one of the best comedies ever made.], Stir Crazy (1980), Raising Arizona (1987), and This Is Spinal Tap (1984).

2021-06-22 06:34:39 +0000 UTCTROPIC THUNDER is custom made for TBR and Sam. A comedy war movie? Come on! π

2021-06-22 05:37:58 +0000 UTCGalaxy Quest should win all the polls, all the time. You're gonna love it.

2021-06-22 05:12:10 +0000 UTCGalaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies ever, but I think it helps to have an understanding or appreciation of Star Trek for maximum effect. Not that it still isn't amazing; it's The Three Amigos, but in space.

2021-06-22 04:49:20 +0000 UTCSome recent comedies I really liked were Spy (2015) and The Heat (2013).

2021-06-22 03:50:30 +0000 UTCSo many good movies here, but had to go with office space, since I've lived it.
Chris
2021-06-22 03:38:25 +0000 UTCI like almost every film on this poll, but I'm going with Office Space, from Mike Judge: creator of Beavis & Butthead and King of The Hill. For real, it is actually a laugh out loud funny movie.
