You definitely need to watch the movie “A Bridge to Far” to get an understanding of what a mess this mission was. Montgomery was given the green light due to politics. In reality if the US took the lead and let Patton run the ground portion it could have succeeded.

2021-10-27 19:02:43 +0000 UTCOne thing I really liked about this episode was it showed how the NCOs and other Taccoa men helped the replacements, either through direct advice or just modelling smart behavior. Especially the scene where Hashey wants to hunker down in the ditch and Bull has to yell at him to get moving and get out of the open. When I first watched the series, this episode wasn't one that really stood out, it was kind of a sleeper next to some of the mind blowing ones like 7 and 9. But after watching the series over 10 times, I see new stuff and appreciate every moment. It really does get better every time you watch it.
