Backlash notes

• Drew McIntyre appeared okay and was checked on after his nasty bump.

• There was word that Damian Priest had a dental injury during the match. We're told he didn't seem thrilled with it, but to what extent, we aren't sure.

• Jeff Cobb had been in the United States since Thursday at least, so any wild legs of travel he reportedly took was before that.

• Most of the match order was changed the weekend of the show. John Cena vs. Randy Orton was always set to close.

• There were a number of independent talent at the show. Nixi XS, Mike Outlaw, Moses The Deliverer, Skylar Sparks all worked as "medics" on the show. Campbell Meyer and Brandon Tolle were also at the show.

• The Local Competitor on Twitter revealed that Austin Mulitalo was one of the people taking an RKO at Backlash.

• Lyra Valkyria's fiance LJ Cleary was shown on WWE Backlash. He's one of the more booked international independent talent in the world, wrestling upwards of 100 times a year for the last four years. He's also fairly regular in Pro Wrestling NOAH.

• One WWE talent joked to us that "no one was here" when talking about how few wrestlers actually needed to be at the show because of the five match card. They said it was a completely different vibe from WrestleMania with everyone around all week.

Sean Ross Sapp sat down with the youngest-ever NWA World Women’s Champion and the first female Triple Crown Champion in NWA history, Kenzie Paige, at the Squared Circle Expo in Indianapolis.

Kenzie discussed her confrontation with WWE’s Natalya at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XIII in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week.

Kenzie said the purpose of attending Bloodsport, where Natalya was competing, was out of respect. Paige told Sean that she traveled to Las Vegas on her dime, wanting to be there for Natalya’s historical moment. Paige mentioned she looked up to Natalya. However, things didn’t go as planned.

“I went there more to show face and to prove that I had enough respect for Natalya. Then she got in my face and cussed,” Kenzie recalled. She said things quickly escalated, and she admitted to Sean that she flipped the double bird at Natalya, but said it was because she was disrespected first.

Afterward, Kenzie says security and a friend had to escort her out. Kenzie told Sean that she is still angry about it.

Kenzie says she has an issue with the lack of promotion surrounding Natalya’s upcoming NWA debut. She says Natalya has spoken more about her Bloodsport appearance than the NWA ring.

Kenzie also spoke about her sister Kylie, who is also a wrestler. Kenzie says that wrestling together has helped their relationship a lot.

Sean mentioned Kenzie’s historic match with Kamille. Kenzie told Sean that she looks at Kamille like a “big sister.” She noted that Kamille brought her flowers the day after she beat Kamille for the NWA Women’s Championship.
