More on Joe Hendry, WrestleMania, TNA, WWE

Joe Hendry appeared at WrestleMania as TNA Champion.

Fightful Select reported in our WrestleMania scoops thread that by the time Kevin Owens publicly announced his injury, WWE had the wheels in motion to inquire about Hendry's availability and have him work the match. Many in TNA found out the news for sure on Saturday. It was kept quiet within WWE, with Hendry not listed internally on run sheets.

In regards to Hendry's status within TNA, he's still under contract, but it expires at some point within the next 12 months. Hendry has an agent now, and we'd been told along the way that WWE naturally has maintained interest. The company has brought him in for a number of matches and appearances.

Sports Illustrated's Jon Alba confirmed a Fightful Select report on Twitter this weekend that Joe Hendry was approached about a recent WWE Raw match, adding that it was the episode in Glasgow. We can confirm that it was planned to be a program with the Miz, but Ariel Shnerner had shot it down as it would have resulted in a Hendry loss. Some in TNA claimed this could have been a contributing factor for Shnerner's eventual termination.

When we asked a number of TNA talent and staff about the appearance and the length and layout of the match, they didn't take as much of an issue with it as the general online response, and felt like it was more exposure for TNA.

Comments

"Some in TNA claimed this could have been a contributing factor for Shnerner's eventual termination." This is concerning.

It's wild how Anthem seems to go out of their way to make their company fail. And, they seem to want it to. If they are wanting to sell it they're even doing that backasswards. They're making it worth less to potential buyers. Does Anthem even know how basic business works?
