NJPW talent working without contract, now a free agent

Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp has learned that TJ Perkins is officially a free agent at the moment. We're told that New Japan Pro Wrestling made a contract offer, but TJP declined it. Those we spoke to say there was no ill will on either side, and TJP is continuing to work with them on a freelance basis.
TJP was also requested for the upcoming Super Junior tournament, but passed on this as well. New Japan was hoping he'd have a prominent role in the tourney. He's still on some upcoming New Japan shows.
Perkins is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and former 3-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.

While the AEW singles scene is strong, they can use some new tag teams as the division seems to be starting to come back. TJ's tag experience would be a real asset, they just need to find the right partner.
