Tony Khan says AEW Grand Slam is among top AEW international gates
Added 2025-02-13 13:00:17 +0000 UTCAEW is headed to Brisbane for AEW Grand Slam this weekend, and it appears to be a financial success for AEW.
Speaking with Fightful via Deej of DownUnderTheRing, Tony Khan said that as things stand, AEW Grand Slam looks to be the biggest international gate that AEW has ever done outside of the company's Wembley Stadium shows. He also called it one of AEW's highest gates of all time.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door took place in Toronto in 2023, and 20 other dates in Canada since the company opened. The company also held an event in Cardiff last year.

2025-02-13 17:50:43 +0000 UTCOkay, I don’t want to be unfair to AEW, but how many international shows have they done? By default it’s probably one of the best internationally.

2025-02-13 15:05:54 +0000 UTCIf you look at the people who are actually going, they are upset with the whole thing. It's a mess

2025-02-13 14:45:48 +0000 UTCThat'll happen when you charge stadium prices for a B show recorded in an arena
Mark Butchers
2025-02-13 13:27:15 +0000 UTCWell that's because people paid really high ticket prices early. Just like when WWE does this I'm not really moved. Should be a fantastic show though, really looking forward to it

2025-02-13 13:21:38 +0000 UTCHaving to move the show was probably AEW's first failure, but they've salvaged things a bit with a great gate.

2025-02-13 13:21:06 +0000 UTCWhat I don’t understand is, when they realized it was on nba all star Saturday, instead of pushing it to be prerecorded and playing after the game, why not make it a max exclusive special to air live, and then be rebroadcast on TNT after the all star game? It would have made it special for those who woke up early to watch it like a free ppv, but would still be airing in its normal time slot.
