AEW SCOOPS THREAD
Added 2025-01-01 23:22:24 +0000 UTCThere's a new AEW Dynamite theme planned soon.
Young Bucks' original AEW theme, as well as those of Santana & Ortiz, Awesome Kong and early Lucha Bros theme have been adjusted in the AEW library.
Those that we spoke to weren't sure what is being filmed after Dynamite tonight since Rampage has now concluded.
The "we're going to picture in picture" transitions have been removed from the Dynamite archives, and now feature what was on the Fite/Triller feed.
ROH is being filmed before Dynamite
Willow Nightingale was already overseas in Japan for New Years, along with A number of other wrestlers including Kevin Knight, Gabe Kidd, Clark Connors. Athena headed over today, as did TJP. Kenny Omega was slated to head over today.
Will Ospreay is still in the United States. Nyla Rose was to be at tonight's tapings, Billie Starkz isn't planned for the show.
Most talent didn't get into Asheville for the show until today because of New Year's.
Darby
In an interview with Phid McAwesome from Downunder the Ring, AEW star Darby Allin joined Finn McAwesome on the "Down Under the Ring" podcast for an interview on multiple topics. From his unorthodox training methods to his thoughts on longevity in wrestling and more.
Darby mentions he’s been training to climb Mount Everest, a challenge that demands physical and mental endurance. During the podcast, Darby shared a peculiar moment from his morning: holding his breath underwater for over three minutes during a live interview. He said it was part of his rigorous breathwork training.
The former AEW TNT Champion tells Phid, “It’s some of the hardest training I’ve ever done in my life.” However, he welcomes the challenge, explaining that pushing his limits builds the confidence he lacked in his early years. “The crazy stuff I do, whether it’s wrestling, stunts, or now Everest is my therapy.”
When asked if he’s ever considered traditional therapy for his extreme lifestyle, Darby’s answer was emphatic, “No.” Darby says he likes the thrill of pushing his body and mind to its limit. Darby said, “Growing up, I didn’t have a lot of confidence, but the crazier the stunts I did, the stronger I became mentally.”
He said this mindset extends to wrestling, where he constantly seeks to outperform himself. As for how long he can maintain his pace, Darby tells Phid that his approach is simple: as long as he loves what he does, he’ll keep going. “The moment I don’t love it, I’ll walk away,” he said, underscoring his commitment to authenticity in all he does.
Darby discusses how his straight-edge lifestyle has also played a significant role in his strength and recovery. He credits clean living for his ability to bounce back from injuries quickly. “I’ve seen friends in the skateboarding world who use alcohol to cope,” he said. “It’s a cycle that slows down healing. My lifestyle choices have been a game-changer.”
The next topic was about “The man they call Sting.” Darby says the WWE Hall of Famer's humility and gratitude have left a lasting impression. “He’s taught me to stay grounded and never believe the hype. At the end of the day, you want to look in the mirror and be proud of who you are.”
The conversation also touched on Sting’s son, Stephen, who Darby has been training. While fans might hope for a continuation of the Stinger’s legacy, Darby emphasized the importance of Stephen carving his own path. “When he steps into the ring, we want it to be because he’s earned it, not because of favoritism,” Darby remarked.
Despite his love for wrestling, Darby consciously maintains a life outside the ring. Whether skateboarding or performing stunts, his interests keep him level. “I’m around wrestling so much; I need other outlets,” he explained. He explains why he’s unfamiliar with the independent wrestling scenes outside AEW. “If you’re looking for me in Brisbane next year, don’t check the indie shows. You’ll find me at the skate park,” he joked.
AEW’s upcoming event at Brisbane Entertainment Center is on February 15th. Darby acknowledged that local regulations could limit his creativity. “If the commission is rocking, I’m rocking,” he joked, hinting at his desire to test boundaries wherever he goes.
