Update On Rey Fenix's Contract Status
Added 2024-11-29 13:00:10 +0000 UTCPenta’s AEW deal is coming up soon, but Rey Fenix’s is not.
Fightful reported this week that Penta’s contract with the company is up next week, but Fenix has a lot more time left on his. When speaking to those with knowledge of the situation, it was claimed to Fightful that Rey Fenix’s AEW contract extends well into next year due to the injury time that will be added to it.
Fenix and Penta were expected to wrap up with AEW in the fall and head to WWE, but when AEW caught wind of it, added injury time to their deals. We’ve not heard of creative plans for Fenix, but at one point Death Triangle were slated to win the AEW Trios Titles at AEW All In.

It is not that he is simply being sidelined, it it him not wanting to do jobs. At least that I what I get from what I have read. He is making huge money and sees himself as being above AEW and almost everyone on the roster. I have said this before, either freeze him out or get him to agree to do major jobs and send him on his way. I don't see him ever being a top star in WWE and want AEW to let him find out the hard way.

But the other side of the coin is that it’s on record that HHH tried to get some former WWE talent (Moxley, FTR, Black, Jericho, etc.) to ask for their releases so he could scoop them up, WHILE THEY WERE UNDER CONTRACT to another company, and in some cases had 3+ years remaining on that contract. So yes, it’s 100% being petty, but also hard to fault him when Penta was running around telling people that he wasn’t just weighing his options, but already had a deal in place, while still under contract. In the real world that’s totally illegal.

Should Penta have ran his mouth no he shouldn’t have people say contract tampering I guarantee most wrestlers who have deals coming up regardless of if they leave or not will chat with the other company to see what they can get. They both originally had deals up in August & September respectively I get adding the 3 months of injury time to Penta for running his mouth but Fenix did nothing wrong here & now has roughly a year of injury time added & isn’t been used. If you aren’t going to use Fenix Starks or Miro let them leave your wasting money it’s just talent hoarding

Being a petty person to people who don’t wanna be there ( no matter if Penta was an idiot about or not) is not what AEW built itself off of. Why not just be the bigger person and let them leave and move on? Why be so petty like Vince and keep Rey there (which will only result in depression because he isn’t being used and his brother is gone). 2024-11-29 13:26:14 +0000 UTCI feel like if they hadn't actually been in contact with WWE until their deals were up, or at least kept their mouths shut about it, he wouldn't have done this. But when Penta is going around telling people that they've already got a deal in place while he still had (at the time) a month-plus left on his contract and was slated to win the Trios belts, that's not cool either. I honestly believe that if he had just told Tony that he wasn't going to re-sign until he explored the open market and that putting the belts on them didn't make sense in light of that, they'd both already be in WWE by now. Does it suck that TK isn't using them and has chosen to make an example of them? Yes. Is it also important for him to set a precedent for his business going forward? Also yes. Is it something that he's doing because WWE has done it in the past and gotten away with it? A third time, yes.
