Danhausen Update: Why He's Off TV, Contract, More

When Danhausen didn’t appear during spooky season, Fightful reached out for updates on his status with the company.
Sources Fightful has spoken to claim that AEW and Danhausen have not been in regular contact for well over six months, outside of approvals for indie dates, which are protocol for talent under AEW contract. Danhausen was set to return from injury about a year ago, and plans changing regarding his return led to Danhausen expressing frustration directly to Tony Khan.
There had been a few pitches to possibly bring Danhausen back earlier in the year, and Fightful was told that Bryan Danielson had made some pitches. Nothing emerged from those plans, but Danhausen has been willing to return to work for AEW. Since publishing this article, we've heard that at least one member of AEW creative spoke with Danhausen in September.
We’re told that AEW was of the belief that Danhausen wanted to prioritize indie bookings over wrestling on Collision on Saturdays. On the other side of things that Danhausen had indicated to AEW that there were family related reasons that could (and did) change as the year went on that caused adjustments to his availability. AEW had seen him doing indies before that period and believed he didn’t want to work to Collision.
Fightful Select learned Danhausen’s AEW contract runs into the Summer of 2025, and that there are not creative plans in order right now.

He’s a great character, he’s come up with multiple hatch phrases outside of his character they use on shirts. I’d love to know what the plans were & what changed. They did all that build up a year ago, video packages every week. For nothing. He’s too talented on the mic to not be used, IMO. He’d be a great manager type that occasionally wrestles.

Problem being that "the best wrestle" doesn't always have to equate to "in-ring", and Danhausen is a very capable performer, but not a TK type of performer. I think he never would be allowed room to grow in AEW. Honestly, I hope he goes to TNA next year and gets a great deal for TNA standards, unless AEW will work with his availability. I can see this potentially being problematic for some other wrestlers though. He's a wonderful talent and deserves TV time somewhere, anywhere.

If the relationship between Dan & TK gone bad why pay someone you no internet in using or investing in. I’m not a fan of DanHausan but why keep people around who you know are going to leave or want out. To me it should be a case of paying for & investing in the people that wanna be there sitting DanHausan Ricky Starks Miro or the Lucha Bros at home & not using them because they want to leave & not be there helps no one. To me it’s either let them leave or put them on tv to put people over on the way out
