AEW retains an original hire

With discussion of the future of WWE’s music department rampant, we know one name who will not be involved, as an AEW original has a new deal and will be remaining with the company.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that AEW music producer Mikey Rukus recently agreed to a new deal with All Elite Wrestling, which will keep him with the company moving forward. Rukus has been a part of AEW since 2019, and produced a number of their most iconic themes. When details emerged regarding the future of WWE’s music division, a WWE source reached out to Fightful and confirmed that the company reached a new agreement with Rukus in recent months.

In addition to the number of AEW themes Rukus produced, he’s worked on several for wrestlers outside the company. He’s also produced orchestral and 8-bit albums of AEW themes.

Comments

That’s fine, I’m talking about as a viewer. Not one mid card theme is catchy.

T Mar

I've never had one AEW talent complain about their theme. Across multiple regimes, at least two dozen from WWE have complained about theirs.

Fightful Select

It’s 1000% accurate

T Mar

This is not accurate. P P P Powerhouse.

Stalla

That's a talent. Really drives home how important music is to professional wrestling.

Craft Dinner

Agreed. Most of the themes seem to make sense and Rukus loves the company and what he is doing. Very real energy.

Lynchman

From the mid card down, you can never tell the difference between any of them and I watch both shows

T Mar

I watch both Dynamite and Collision you can never distinguish have the themes from one another. Only a select few. The biggest theme AEW had was Judas, 2nd was Cody’s.

T Mar

In your opinion.....

TriSarahTops

False.

rocksolid124

This is great news. Rukus has done some good work. He's also great at interacting with fans and ramping up excitement.

Chris Ferrell

AEW themes aren’t great either if we’re being honest

T Mar

It seems the implication is moreso that if they were, as recently reported, on the hunt for a new music supervisor that he, as someone with well received experience would be a natural candidate, if available.

Ryan Tardiff

Rukus is such a musical alchemist capable of working within so many genres seamlessly. Great to see, and further drives home the point that AEW puts a ton of value in music in wrestling.

Insomnia Inc

Rukus is the best

Robbie Wray

Great!! Mikey is the best

Dragmire

My mans Mikey Ruckus remains All Elite!

Everett Bichara

Fuck yeah, huge win

Tempo1337

He’s probably the best ever at creating unique wrestling themes that can be played in your car and it not be corny

Richman

It's a weird thing with Mikey Rukus, but I think his best themes are the ones for the jobbers, like "Grinding Gears" for The Factory, "Voel Die Vibe Vandag" for Angelico, and "The Pit" for Chaos Project.

Matthew Bamford

So WWE was trying to get Rukus? Is that what I am reading here?

R

Probably a “he’s not coming to replace def rebel bc he just re-signed with AEW” kinda thing

MrBigBadBean

Best themes in the game right now

MrBigBadBean

He's been great for aew. I really appreciate his style and his work.

Rincewind

hit rate is ridiculously high

David C

One of the most important people at the company. Without Rukus it just wouldn’t feel like AEW.

David C

Great news. He is the man! All of his themes are so recognizable from the first note

Gina K (WitchbladeBaeWhite)

The wwe source reached out to confirm Mikey Rikus re-signed with them?

SlickJonny

I remember Rukus originally working with Rev Pro before he started with AEW. The classic Dynamite theme sounded like an intro theme he did for them at the time.

MB

I'm glad to hear this. A majority of the themes he's created have been great.

A

What a great hire. He's doing amazing work.

Cory Bradley

He's the fucking man

On the Tip of Your Tongue

Good news! Rukus themes hit far more times then they dont imo
