Daniel Garcia talks to Fightful about moving on from dancing, upcoming match vs. MJF, and Buffalo Wrestling Scene,

Fightful spoke with AEW’s Daniel Garcia; Garcia talked about the glass bottle MJF shattered over his head. Garcia, which he says has affected him physically, but he also says it is motivating him.

The former ROH Pure Champion conveys his hate for MJF and says he despises everything about him, from his presence on social media to the mere mention of his name.

Sean asked Garcia about the reaction he received from the crowd at Wembley Stadium. Garcia described it as validation. He felt like he went through weeks of uncertainty, wondering if fans would remember him or care about his return. Garcia said the response from the 50,000-plus is something he will never forget.

Sean asked Garcia about an incident where he threw a microphone at MJF. Garcia recalls it was his first time throwing a microphone, and he threw it directly at MJF’s head. He admits he didn’t go out there initially to throw the microphone but was angry after seeing him. He said he thinks if he hit part of MJF's shoulder.

Garcia said even though he missed MJF's head, he feels the throw achieved its purpose, generating a great reaction from the audience.

The PWG World Champion reflected on his journey in wrestling, mentioning his earlier matches with JD Drake and Wheeler Yuta before joining AEW. He discusses his connection with Drake and Yuta. Who says they shared similar struggles and experiences, such as wrestling in empty venues during the pandemic.

They then began conversing about the pro wrestling scene in Buffalo, New York. Garcia attributes this to the city's cold weather and lack of distractions, which makes residents passionate about sports and wrestling. He believes that wrestling delivers an escape for the people of Buffalo.

Garcia discusses his wrestling identity. He considers himself both a pro wrestler and a sports entertainer. Garcia believes the greatest performers, like Bryan Danielson and Eddie Guerrero, excelled in both areas. Garcia mentions he aims to be versatile and unique and avoid being limited to a style or category. Garcia also mentions enjoying being a meme-worthy personality.

Garcia speaks about the importance of finding the camera during matches, a skill he has developed over time in AEW. He reflects on his growth as a wrestler, acknowledging that he often looks back at his past performances and realizes how much he has improved.

Garcia says he doesn’t believe he has a particular move or technique that stands out uniquely visually, like Bret Hart's distinctive second-rope elbow drop that he used as an example.

Garcia talked about the varying styles of his dance. He noted that it is never performed the same way twice. The dance can go from soft to aggressive and be adjusted depending on the crowd's energy. He acknowledges that other wrestlers have also embraced the dance, and while he is proud of it, he considers it a chapter that has now closed for him. He feels the dance was essential to his persona but is ready to move on to other aspects of his performance.

Garcia was asked about Mina Shirakawa doing his dance and going viral. He said, "Mina can do it better than me. She can have it now."

The conversation turns to Garcia’s approach when facing versatile opponents. Garcia says he does not change his style drastically when wrestling against someone with versatility but does appreciate the challenge.

In closing, Garcia discussed his upcoming match against the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF. He mentioned that he would showcase a level of violence, intensity, and passion that he believes is rare in wrestling.
