Patreon Doing Something Fishy?
Added 2017-12-07 22:13:19 +0000 UTCI don't fully understand what Patreon is doing. I just read about it for the first time, but it seems like it punishes patrons who donate small amounts of money, like $1, to multiple artists. I don't think it does as much to patrons who give more money to less artists though, but still, this sucks, and I think it sends the wrong message to patrons that they shouldn't support multiple artists, and instead should only support one or two at higher amounts. If any of my Patrons at the $1 range cancel their pledge to me because of this, I do not blame you, but if you do quit PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE so I can compile them and make a big Tumblr post or something. I won't reveal anyone's user names or anything.

2017-12-09 05:58:25 +0000 UTCEverything I've learned about this stinks and the lack of clarification on the official website is very disturbing. If it really is what everyone is predicting, I will be drastically reducing my pledge list and possibly quitting Patreon entirely over this.

2017-12-08 05:26:15 +0000 UTCTo be honest, I'v always felt that the "per creation" model is way too easy to cheese. I understand that a lot of music and video people use it since they only get one thing out every couple months, but I've heard of some artists trying to abuse it.

2017-12-07 23:47:59 +0000 UTCits not actually much of an issue for the small pledge patrons as it is for the people who sub to "per creation" artists the patrons play the fee for EACH thing the per creation artist makes instead of one big thing so for example i sub to 2 artists for 50$ and a per creation artist for 10$ who posts 5 times a month most of the time fee for BOTH of the 50$ artists together (for 100$ total) is 3.60$ (1.80$ each) fee for the per creation artist after his 5th post is 3.20$ almost DOUBLE the fee a per month patron of the same cost would be

2017-12-07 23:27:33 +0000 UTCIt would seem something like this they first should have consulted with the artists, but if it doesn't rise above a extra 50 cents I'm good with still supporting the ones who I support with the $1,-

2017-12-07 23:21:26 +0000 UTCI see why they are doing it to the patrons rather than the creators but yea it does suck for folks multiple small pledges. Here's hoping that nothing bad comes of it.

2017-12-07 23:02:37 +0000 UTCIn Summary, instead if making the artist pay the fee of Patreon, it goes to the patron, is a 2,9% + 35 cents, which as you say is a lot for small pledges, as is almost a half more, and is bad for as you say multiple artists support
